Player Ratings: Juventus 2-0 AC Milan – Emerson disastrous; Leao sinks

AC Milan struggled at Allianz Stadium as Juventus clinched a comfortable 2-0 win in the end. Many players could have done a lot better, with only a few doing okay, and below are the ratings for the Rossoneri.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.

Starting XI

Maignan (6): Two very unlucky goals to concede, given the deflection on the first and being wrong-footed on the second. We must remember that he made some crucial saves before the goals to keep Milan in the game, so he deserves a pass here.

Emerson Royal (4.5): You could argue the deflection was unlucky, but what bugs me the most is the fact he was much lower than his defensive teammates, thus allowing Mbangula to stay onside. On top of that, he was poor overall and got carded as well, subbed off after 75 minutes.

Gabbia 6): Perhaps not as solid as we have seen him this season, but the lack of playing time lately arguably played a part. He wasn’t at fault on any of the goals really and held up well in the duels for the most part.

Tomori (6): The Englishman saved a goal in the first half with some great tracking back on Gonzalez, bringing him to a halt and blocking the shot. It’s very hard to defend a 1v1 like the one he had against Weah, so it doesn’t affect the rating too much here. At the very least the good moments we saw today were enough to get a pass here.

Hernandez (5.5): He had good moments in the attack and in the build-up in the first half, but the second half was quite different. He started with a sloppy mistake at the back which should have resulted in a goal conceded, and then struggled with his delivery in attack. He did unlock many situations, credit to him, but we need the final touch too.’

Fofana (5): Even when Milan did manage to get some good play going, i.e. in the first half, he was still invisible. We only saw him on a couple of occasions in good build-ups and he struggled defensively too. Let’s just put it this way, he hasn’t looked brilliant at all under Conceicao.

Bennacer (5.5): He deserves credit for pressing high and making a lot of runs to at least make something happen. However, he was still a bit sloppy on the ball and didn’t always have the best awareness, resulting in some good passing opportunities not being taken.

Musah (5.5): Very average from the American, with both highs and lows, and unfortunately that doesn’t cut it on this level. The fact he was played ‘out of position’ obviously matters but he could have done better still in many situations.

Reijnders (6): It might sound bizarre given the final result, but at least compared to recent games the Dutchman looked better. He made some good runs forward and opened up chances for his teammates (perhaps should have had a penalty as well). In the second half, he was one of the few to find dangerous areas.

Leao (5): We saw a lot of him in the first half and we mean that in a good way, as he created chances and helped Milan out of the press. He nearly scored a goal as well, but was denied by a good save. In the second, unfortunately, he was more or less invisible and when he did get on the ball, he was very poor. So poor, in fact, that he gets a 5 here. He needs to do more as the star.

Abraham (5.5): At the end of the day, it really wasn’t his fault that Milan lost. He worked very hard in both phases of the game and helped create some chances in that first half. In the second, however, he faded a bit and struggled to get involved – again probably not his fault given Milan’s inability to play out the back.

Substitutes

Jimenez (5.5): He wasn’t great on the ball as the dribbling always led to Juventus regaining possession. Certainly not the effect Conceicao was hoping for on the right.

Camarda (N/A): While he was on the pitch longer than Jovic, who got a rating below, Milan’s unwillingness to put the ball into the box meant we didn’t see enough from Camarda to give a rating. There was one cross from Jovic actually, but the youngster sent the header wide.

Jovic (6): Honestly, from what we saw, he looked pretty decent. Dropped down on a couple of occasions and combined well with his teammates. It’s just a shame that he didn’t get any crosses whatsoever to work with.

Terracciano (N/A): He got into the box almost immediately after coming on but Juve cleared the ball at the last gasp. Still, like Camarda, not enough to give a rating.

    1. Yep. All of the coaches that have been hired for this squad have found the same thing. An unbalanced squad full of suspect characters. Pioli, Fonseca and now Conceicao have all had to deal with the same group of players, and have all said the same thing (although Pioli was less willing to be openly critical). We need a transfer revolution, not of “bad players” but of players with poor attitudes (and Royal because he is so bad), regardless of the names on the shirt. If that means both Leao and Theo, and whoever else, are moved on, so be it. You could bring in Conte or Klopp or whomever, and the same attitude problems will persist and they will end up saying the same thing that Fonseca and Conceicao have said, and probably suffer the same fate. We are screwed until we get rid of the rotten apples.

  1. Fofana (5): Even when Milan did manage to get some good play going, i.e. in the first half, he was still invisible. We only saw him on a couple of occasions in good build-ups and he struggled defensively too. Let’s just put it this way, he hasn’t looked brilliant at all under Conceicao.

Hahahahahashhas since he came he doesn’t look like good, he is too weak in duels , losing player constantly, unable to pass in 90%…for him Rade Krunic was Luka Modric.

  2. Emerson is possibly the worst transfer we have ever made, and we have made some of the most disastrous transfers over the years.

    1. Some confort on this matter, as a joke of course, is that Barcelona and Tottenham were also fooled to sign him, we just completed the European triple.

    2. Summer calcio mercato was disastrous, to say the least!! Emerson, Morata, Abraham and Pahlovic are all below standard. Then there are a couple of mysterious players such as Okafor, Chikuweże and Jovic. Offload these players, including Origi and Ballo Toure and get a decent midfield and a strong punta.

      1. Do you know how to play,,, what you are good at is stay here and criticize people,, is this not the same people that won trophy last two weeks,, sale of them so you can go and play,,, I never hear your name anywhere around the pitch,,even in the lowest division,,I don’t know how i found myself here,,, ungrateful souls

  3. Well I guess the luck has run out. Can’t keep expecting to win while getting outplayed every match.
Anyone still claiming to see big improvements under Conceicao? If you are, you’re fooling yourself. The performances have been dreadful. We’ve been outplayed every single match except for Cagliari which we drew.
I look forward to hearing all the people that were killing Fonseca now make excuses for Conceicao.

      1. Never said he was good. All I ever said was he was better than Calabria.
How was Theo any better? How was Tomori any better. It’s so funny what people choose to focus on while letting others slide.

        1. “How was Theo any better? ”

LOL. Too easy. Well for starters, Theo didn’t gift Juve the winning goal by not understanding how offsides work and how NOT TO defend. There’s more too but since it’s you who’s asking I’m not going to bother. 🙂

          1. You really want to take a look at who is responsible for more goals conceded this season? I’ll take Theo. You can have all the rest of our defenders combined. And I’ll spot you 2 goals.

        2. Nobody has let them slide kiddo, you just get blinded by your tantrums because we rightfully call out that Emerson is the worst player on the pitch. Tomori and emerson have no reason to start, especially Emerson. Calabria has done more in 2 appearances than Emerson has the entire season. That’s why you’re the only one defending him

          1. You’re the same fool that’s on here complaining that we are about to bring in a much better RB.

Calabria has not done anything. And he’s had a lot more than 2 appearances. Look at our record when he starts. zero clean sheets when he starts. 7 clean sheets in Emerson starts. Then factor in the level of completion he is facing. Emerson has faced Inter twice, Juve 3 times, Real Madrid, Atalanta, Napoli…
Calabria is facing Serie B sides in Coppa Italia, Slovon Bratislava, Cagliari, Parma,Torino…And his numbers and the team’s numbers are still bad.
The one time Calabria faced top competition this season was against Liverpool and he was absolutely torched and received the lowest rating of anyone on the pitch. He hasn’t been good in 2 years now.
Walker will be a welcome upgrade.

          2. 1st question is why cannot reply to you K? btw can you compare clean sheet with tomori start vs clean sheet with gabbia start-both need to include emerson

    1. It’s true we have a sh1t squad regardless of manager.
That being said Fonseca lost the dressing room early on and therefore had to go.

      1. He didn’t lose the dressing room. He lost Theo, who by the way is still playing terribly under Conceicao. Leao after the benching played much better.
I haven’t seen any other players step up their game, while I have seen Reijnders and Fofana regress under Conceicao.

        1. No kiddo, I’m the guy who just calls you out for constantly cryingn that nobody but you thinks Emerson is a quality RB. We all see how bad he is. You’re just a shill for Cardinale and all their terrible choices. You have been since the beginning

    2. Fonseca had the team for monthes and put in 8th place, Conceição didn’t even get a month now.
Granted we look like garbage and has to be blamed now that we’ve made 0 progress but also some of our players have been run to the ground and are exhausted and don’t forget the injuries.

    3. K 31 December 2024, 22:41
“All the fans wanted Conceicao? Ok. I remember the fans calling for Conti. I remember a whole bunch that wanted Motta. How’s he doing at Juve? Drawing every game. Sports is the only profession where everyone thinks they know more than the professionals.”

Haha says the guys who thinks he knows more than the professionals. Get over it. Your boyfriend Fonseca is gone. The professionals, as you love to say, decided that he was trash and has replaced him with another coach who they think is better because these guys have been in football “all their lives”. Right? 🤣🤣🤣

    1. Not just to you, Tomori has no reason to be on the pitch wearing a Milan jersey, his theatrics is just very annoying and unnecessary. Maybe we can try him as a RB or rather sell for 40mill if we are lucky.

    2. The second goal Tomori played the defender onside much the same way Emerson did. We have players in the squad that are rated fairly (Emerson) and players who get unreasonably generous ratings. Tomori gets a 4.5 as he’s piss poor defensive positioning killed off the game

      1. I don’t see it that way. To me that’s a good run (by Weah) against an already exposed backline, there’s only so much you can do as the last man there.

        1. Because I don’t think you understand what happened. Emerson gets unlucky with a defection and it’s on him, but Tomori gets beaten 1v1 way too easily and there’s not much he could do there? I don’t understand.

I’m not an Emerson fan, far from it, I think he is terrible, but him getting a 4.5 and anyone else in the entire team even getting close to a 6 is preposterous.

          1. Exactly this. Always a bias. Emerson actually gets a piece of the shot and it unluckily deflects in. Tomori just gets flat out beat and it’s excuse time.

          2. K, I am sorry but if you cannot provide three times that the ball on Emerson foot lead to a positive result in this game then luck had less to do with it that I am inferring from you post.

        2. Tomori as the last man should be stuck to Weah’s back not racing to keep him onside. Weah starts the run well no doubt and yes the line was caught out but Tomori is a starter for Milan he should understand how to use the offsides line as a help defender. Tomori’s lack of positional makes it very difficult for the team to commit to an aggressive press because he is constantly playing the defender onside. Tomori wasn’t tracking Weah well before the pass and got caught reacting instead of anticipating. The fact that he isn’t anticipating those kind of runs (when the team is in a full press) show his real weakness as a defender

          1. Hah, proving the point exactly. Emerson blocks the shot and it deflects in and it’s all on him. Tomori just gets flat out beaten and it’s ” can’t blame him.”
You guys are laughable with your double standards. Thanks for making it so clear bb.

          2. Tomori still has to do far better in thay position tho. With his speed, to not so much as make a challenge is criminal. He and emerson both need to be benched tho, agreed. K just gets butthurt that nobody likes his boyfriend royal, and does everything to excuse his 17 mistakes per match

          3. I don’t think it’s a case of either or. No one is saying Emerson had a good game. I’m only saying stop giving Tomori a pass he’s AS bad as Emerson. Also not saying the problem was when Tomori was recovering as he actually got back and forced Weah to make a shot under pressure just like Emerson. The issue I have with Tomori is he doesn’t know how to position himself.
Top attackers are going to make good runs every game. Tomori needs to use good positioning or Milan won’t be able to press a team with quality attacking. Emerson and Theo could also go with that lesson as well.

          4. “Hah, proving the point exactly. Emerson blocks the shot and it deflects in and it’s all on him. ”

Nope. He messed it up before by failing the offside miserably. The failed block was just the icing on the cake.

          5. One more bb, please also explain why Tomori bad positioning doesn’t make responsible for the second goal. And stop bringing up Emerson we aren’t talking about him on this thread.

“It’s not Tomori’s fault because Emerson screwed up on the first goal” doesn’t provide any substance to this thread so stop repeating yourself.

          6. “Yes bb please articulate why you can’t blame Tomori for the second?”

I was talking about the offside-trap. Emerson failed it miserably when everyone else was doing it right and Weah’s movement was perfect in the second goal and it wasn’t because Tomori was sleeping too low. You do know how offside-traps work, now do you? If not, maybe Isak should writen an article for you.

          7. “And stop bringing up Emerson we aren’t talking about him on this thread. ”

LOL!!! In your very first comment YOU mentioned Emerson! Stop with the double-standards. YOU started it, YOU handle it. 🙂

  4. This was coming. Nothing to dwell on. However, several notes.
TJ, this guy plays good few games, gets so full of himself and disappears for months. Totally not reliable.
Sorry MM16, but is a third game in a row that we get in goals that you often see saved by goalkeepers.

  5. In talking about Pulisic’s availability Conceicao said he’s not going to win the game on his own anyway. He might want to reconsider that opinion. 🙂

  6. Milan should forfeit the rest of this season… I remember Ibrahimovic claiming this team was complete and ready to challenge for the scudetto

  7. Milan has nothing. The way they play is not productive considering the Goalkeeper touches the ball more than the forwards. Everyone picks on Emerson and wonder how much better is Hernandez. Milan plays a reactive game and lets face it the game style of game as was under Pioli, Fonseca and now Conceicao. Forget it this season, maybe next season with a more attacking style from the start of each game.

  8. It’s f*king hilarious to think Gerry and his clowns needed to waste 200 millions to get us back to the banter era. I mean Galliani did it almost free🤣

Table doesn’t lie, we’re a midtable team now. You get what you paid for.

  9. Back to 8th place. Whats worse we lost from a direct rival for 4th place. Abraham should be benched, he only has height and nothing else. Jovic did more in 10mins. The inability from Abraham to hold the ball impacted our attack. Musah just a lot of headless running as usual. And Emerson bad as usual, like we are playing with a man down. When we adress this problems we can start to hope for 4th place this season.

    1. Btw i just read that Como spent 30mil this January to strenghten their position in Seria A. Meanwhile Milan despite being 8th has spent nothing. Maybe the ownership dosen’t see a problem in being 8th. Or they think they will reach CL with luck only ?

        1. And perhaps getting Vos-type of players for peanuts. You know, young players never to be seen in Milan despite Zlatan’s endorsements.

  10. We threw away 2 points with Cagliari, 3 points with Juve plus we have the game in hand against Bologna. That’s 8 points in total that would have brought us to 4th place and potentially fighting for the Scudetto. At this point, only the 4th place is within reach. We are done with Serie A for this season. We should try to win the Italian Cup trophy, advance as far as we can in the Champions League and finish 4th in Serie A. That would be more than a decent season. And then in the summer start a clean slate for Sérgio Conceição with proper reinforcements to fight for the titles in the 2025/26 season.

  11. Poor Fofana and Reijnders…they look roasted. Tired as heck. Would love to rest them but then you look at the bench and it’s a bunch of crap so I get why they still start. 200m , 17+ players and we don’t even have capable subs, wtf!! Then both our full backs were poor today. Dont know which was worse. And then fat Jovic was better than for Abraham somehow LMAO 🤣 🤣 😂. What a disaster this season has been.

    1. Play Tammy in midfield at this point, he tries hard but can’t finish, and played that ball for Leao last game. That’s how muh Tiji and Fofana need a rest.

Terra Musah Tammy midfield would be fine
      HECK

      Even RLC is fine
      MAke a random fan play.

      Or get the Futoro boys
But, realistically, we should get Frendrup BUT our management wouldn’t do that.

      1. Musah? The one who is the living proof of anyone can become a professional footballer these days – with zero skills & footballing IQ. If you look for “Headless chicken” in the vocabularies you can see Musah’s face there.

  12. Embarrassment of a performance!

Not impressed with the coach’s negative tactics. Juve had 68% possession in 1st half

Emerson opened the flood gates by playing the Juve lad onside and making a useless attempt at blocking, aside from all his normal inability to pass or do anything

Look at the players Juve brought on and what we brought on, it’s night and day.

But hey Zlatan said “we know what is needed”
I cannot remember a worse assembled squad, one that was good a young 2.5 years ago.
Redturd and their minions can get the f-ck out

    1. What else can we expect from this management? Mid January and new players yet, while we are struggling in all 3 three departments. Hope curva sud keep going with their protests.

  13. I am legit curious as to whether a big club has ever been managed this badly as the current Milan. It almost feels like every single step 24/7 is designed to create a new team, called FC RedBird that has no ambition and no management, while an AI takes care of the everyday necessary administrative stuff needed to pass as a professional club.

  14. Every single person who has been involved in the signing of Emerson should be fired. He doesnt even deserve to be a bench player in serie b.

  15. This just proves that Fonseca wasn’t the main issue. He wasn’t good but there are too many inconsistent and poor players on this team. Outside of Pulisic, Gabbia, and Thiaw no one consistently plays well. A few are probably burnt out(Reijnders/Fofana/etc).

  16. All I can say after tonight’s performance is that Jovic needs to be reintegrated into this team. He’s not just a box player but we can all see that he also works well outside the box. People say he’s only good in a two man striking system – the coach uses two man striking system at some point in games so I don’t see why Jovic shouldn’t be given a chance. Then again we saw Fonseca was able to beat the big teams and had problems against the smaller teams which isn’t quite different from what we’re seeing under the new manager but I think this players need to take more responsibility. The blame can’t always go to the coaches. Before Juve scored, there was an incident in our box where Theo should’ve cleared the ball but decided to dribble his way out. I know how much hair I lost from watching that but then again, Juve were brilliant with their pressing and we just didn’t have a way to play out of it. Commentator said the coach doesn’t seem to mind conceding possession but I think he should actually mind. There are situations where you need to hold possession just to blow steam off your opponents. Overall, this game teaches us that there are players in this team who do not feel like their position is under threat however they perform, and there are players who’re hungry for this team in spite of the fact that their hunger is not enough cuz they just don’t have the quality required.

    1. Theo doesn’t care anymore. He wants to leave. You shouldn’t really be that surprised if he starts dribbling past Maignan and onto the goalline.

  17. Absolute domination by Juventus. In no game this season Milan was dominated this bad.
Has nothing to do with coaching or tactics it’s all about the will to win, to fight, to out run, out hustle, out muscle your opponent. Juventus had that, Milan doesn’t and it starts with your “top” players. The “top” players set the tone but at Milan the top players need a coach or a director to motivate them. One of those so called top players was nullified by Mckinnie, a midfielder playing as a RB.
Juventus was quicker to every ball and it was usually swarming of Juventus players around the Milan player.
If people actually think that Milan biggest problem is a striker they are lying themselves. You can put Haaland or Lewandowski on this team and they’ll have hard time scoring because they’ll get zero service just like Giroud did the last couple of years and Tammy, Morata this season.
Started the game with 4 midfielders and still got dominated. I didn’t even notice that Fofana was playing, while Bennacer, oh Bennacer, how is this dude still playing for Milan in 2025 I do not know. Kept passing to the wrong team just like in every game he has played this season.
Hopefully Pulisic comes back ASAP because without him this team is nothing. One of the few that has the fight in him and the right mentality throughout a game.

      1. I can count on 1 hamd how many good games Leao has played this season, not 1 Leao bad game and here i am. People are delusional when it comes to Leao. Apparently playing 1 good game every other month is good enough.
If anything it’s fanboys like you that come out of the woodwork after 1 good Leao game, not the other way around.

      2. It’s not hate to expect/want the best paid player to perform when our MVP is sidelined with injury. He’s not delivering for the money he’s getting.

        1. If someone else posted this, it would be fine. But this is Z. He wanted Leao sold, and he NEVER praises him for Good performances. Also, Leao wasn’t good VS Cagliari, i’m not a blind fanboy, he was awful before Fonseca benched him. Fonseca benching him was the right choice. ALSO, 1 hand=5 fingers, let’s see, Como, Inter, Real Madrid, Cagliari(3-3), Red Star, Leece, Lazio, Parma, that’s 8 right there. And that’s not all, 1 hand?

        2. My comment wasn’t posted so here:

Leao wasn’t good at the start of the season before Fonseca benched him

          Leao wasn’t good vs cagliari
I’m not a Leao fanboy, I just think Z needs to stop the hate. Z saying Leao had a bad game is COMPLETELY fine, but he never praises Leao when he has a good game. HE wanted Leao sold. And saying “I can count on 1 hamd(I’m not a jerk you insults spelling mistakes) how many good games Leao has played this season” Is hate, because I can name 7 of the top of my head. Real Madrid, Inter, Cagliari(3-3), Como, Red Star, Leece and Lazio.

  18. Now, with the likes of Bondo, Diarra, Belayhane, Mosquera and Reyna I’m pretty sure we’d cement our Conference League spot💪

  19. Why Emerson keeps playing despite his garbage performance match after match while Calabria who did better is sitting in the bench???

    1. The management want him out, just like they pushed out Kalulu. They don’t want Milanisti in the club, Gabbia most likely be sold soon too. It’s too painful for Trump…sorry Gerry to be reminded fans adored Maldini and hate him. Because like Trump he is an incapable fool who surrounds himself with clowns

It’s the American circus folks, step right up and see the incredible sh1t show!

    1. Having him play a more traditional forward than winger role by Conceicao seems like a tactical mis-step (even with injury constraints). Under Fonsesca he had some strong games as a “defensive winger,” essentially babysitting Royal, and was reasonably solid the last few games as a right-side mid. It’s like sticking Leao as a CB and being surprised that’s he’s not sharp in his positioning.

      1. I understand that but as I once said before, the guys plays like someone with a misconfigured controller. Doesn’t know when to shoot, when to pass, always trying to take on people when he shouldn’t.. the only thing going for him is his athleticism

  20. I can agree the goal against Cagliari was a mistake, but The 2 against Juve and the one against Como are not mistakes at all.

    1. Blame the guys who negotiated the deal and paid for him!!! And the one who “scouted” him in the first place. Those need to go. NOW!

  21. I see that Norman Bates has now started blaming Conceicao in order to avoid mentioning his bosses and their ridiculous decisions that have lead to this disaster. 🤣🤣

  22. MOTM: Emerson. Once again the decisive player who made the difference. Too bad he’s always involved in the winning goals – FOR THE OPPONENTS!!!! FFS…

  23. Juve had their best game of the season. They looked like LIverpool today. This said, this game highlighted how poorly constructed our squad is.

Mike Maignan, MOTM for Milan, 7. 4 great saves; while he maybe could have done a bit better in their second goal, the first one he was fooled by a deflection and still almost saved it.

Gabbia, 6. The only defender who didn’t do anything wrong.

Emerson, terrible in offense, wasting attempts at crossing. Was beaten by his man several times. 4

Theo, gave away the ball to their offense a number of times. Yes, he tried to help the offense in first half but not efficiently; he doesn’t get a pass. 5.5

Tomori, a mixed bag as he did prevent a goal in first half but helped conceding their second goal so one thing cancels the other. 5.5

    Fofana, not good, exhausted. 5

Reijnders, not good, a bit better as he almost scored. 5.5

Musah, Didn’t do anything right today. 5

Bennacer, still off shape and a liability. 5

    Abraham, missing in action. 5

Leão, together with Mike was our best player in first half, almost scored, and energetically helped the defense achieving more success with it than his usual. However, disappeared in second half, together with the whole team. For the first half, gets a pass, 6

Jovic, entered the game very well. Maybe should be an option above Abraham. 6

    Jimenez, not good today. 5

Camarda, not enough for a rating.

Terracciano, not enough for a rating.

Mr. Conceição – His team for the first time did not come back from the halftime break energized. The subs didn’t really work either except for a decent Jovic. It’s hard to blame him, given how intense Juve played, and given the absent players, especially the very essential Pulisic, and given the poorly constructed team he inherited. Still, no reason to give him a pass today as he was unable to make an impact during halftime. 5

    1. Everyone looks like Liverpool against us, including Como. The team is so poorly built that we don’t have a single strong side that would give us a hand in games against weaker opponents.

      1. I agree with poorly built. No deputies for Fofana, Reijnders and Theo. No quality RB. No quality RW to relieve Pulisic. Jimenez was a decent backup for Rafa for a while but hasn’t been good since. Players are not consistent, except for being consistently bad like Emerson and Tomori. Our strikers barely score. So there are a ton of problems, which was caused by incompetent managers that implemented erratic transfer windows.

But we did beat Inter twice, Juve once, and Real Madrid once. So it’s not like we can’t play well from time to time.

I do believe that Conceição is a better coach than both Pioli and Fonseca but he can’t accomplish miracles when the team is poorly built. It will take a mercato led by him and patient reconstruction for his Milan to show up.

This season is lost. We are not getting 4th place as obviously Napoi, Inter, Atalanta and Juve are way better than we are, and even Fiorentina, Bologna, and Lazio compete with us for that spot. Our position as 8th is correct. We are a middle-table team. Maybe with patient work and reconstruction under Conceição we can get back to top 4 in subsequent seasons but the problem is, by not making the next Champions League, the few good players we still have will likely leave for greener pastures.

  24. To night game against juve was deserstrous because milan played with one man down Emerson is -one milan shouldn’t hv signed a prayer like him jeminez should hv started ahead of him musa was trying to cover for him and that granted the juve players more opportunity to attack from there pls Emerson should be benched for next match let jemenez start

  25. The wonders Conte is doing with a rather weak Napoli side in terms of quality players. He is truly a top class manager. Pretty sure he was never really close to the RedBird version of Milan, so at least I am not as mad, as I was last summer when I believed the rumors for a moment.

  26. A lot of our first team players are not consistent: Theo, Leao, Reijnders, Fofana. Milan have to offload Bennacer, Emerson Royal, Abraham, at the end of the season. Our bench is full of rotten players that we are finding hard to sell, or even loan out. Milan needs to start clearing out this squad. With the way the league is going, and how good our rivals are, we will not be able to achieve top 4 with these players.

    1. Only players who were brought by Maldini are sold/gifted. It’s an official RedBurd rule. Don’t hold your breath. In fact, it’s almost certain that the Alexis – Abraham swap will become permanent.

  27. Jovic made more of an argument to start in 10 minutes than Abraham did all game. Id honestly just like to see him up top with leao to work off eachother. Put Terra in midfield and rest fofana, he’s DEAD. Bring up Vos and Zeroli for Tiji to rest too, at least to sub off early. Emerson needed to be benched 3 months ago, but for some ungodly reason we have to watch him f*&% up 9 times per game EVERY WEEK. And while I agree we should not be selling even a Gatorade to Juve, I think Tomori has to go in the summer if this is the from we can expect here on out. Too scared to tackle, giving away the ball, poor decision making, and throwing his arms up in anger at his teammates when HE SCREWS UP. I’m sick of seeing it. We desperately need a midfield reinforcement, but instead we’re trying to sign another 34yr old has been on the cheap…and we likely won’t get any attackers since we couldn’t sell Okafor off the books. So play jovic with leao, put Terra next to benna to act as the gattuso type role(he definitely has the stamina and speed for it), put Calabria back in so we stop conceding cuz of Emerson, and at this point if tomori keeps playing like this, and with Thiaw sadly injured, I’d play Pavlovic easily. He has the potential to be great if he gets the right coaching, and unlike Tomori he will actually come up with goals saving tackles.

  28. I saw the second half and this game was worse than loss to Parma.

    Maignan-6, good stops
    Emerson-5, START CALABRIA FFS
tomori-6, that 1v1 vs Weah is hard to defend against
GAbbia-6.1, when Thiaw returns, play him next to Tomori
    theo-5.6
Fofana-1.9, Awful, definitely needs a rest
Tiji-5, that failed pass attempting to do a 1 2 with Theo summed up his game
Leao-5.1, That failed pass attempting to do a 1 2 with Theo summed up his game (Getting deja vu?)
    Musah-5.6, cant blame him
    benna-5.7- At least he tried
    Tammy-5.2-ehhhhhhhh
Management-WE NEED MIDFIELD REINFORCEMENTS, AND STOP TRYING TO FORCE CALABRIA OUT OF THE CLUB!! Frendrup in the winter and a goalscoring striker in the summer

  29. For me, bennacer was the worst today. Losing the ball to often, making runs that stops the passes for the wide players, and then when he gets the ball, almost always playing back to Gabbia and Tomori. 3 is my rating on him. Gabbia for me MOTM for Milan together with Maignan.

  30. Our season and ranking is so awful that we’ve reached a point where, as bad as it may sound, it’s actually preferable to continue losing points and avoid Conference/Europa League. The same AI will be in charge of summer transfers which means we won’t have squad depth next season either, so might as well avoid useless games.

  31. Attitude of the players is just a reflection of the toxic environment this profit leech along with his clowns managed to create. In just two seasons.

Before with “he who must not be named” as our technical director, players were looked after and protected. Both on and off the pitch.

Now, these spineless cowardly chimps called directors have no problems throwing them under the bus while they take the back doors. Fckin disguisting.

    1. We are NOT a serious club under Redbird. PERIOD.

A serious club does not rely on strikers such as Abraham, Morata, Jovic and Camrada – all BACKUP players at this stages in their respective careers.

A serious club does not PASS on FREE players such as Rabiot or Thuram (just to name a few)

A serious club (that is profitable) does not always have to sell players to buy players and as a result misses out on a player like Manu Koné for example.

A serious club doesn’t sell its Talent (Kalulu) to a direct rival (Juve) for peanuts and buys a WORSE player in Emerson and then has to buy another player who is another backup at this stage in his career in an aging Walker

A serious club doesn’t hire a coach nobody wanted and had no track record of success in Fonseca.

A serious club doesn’t hire all INEXPERIENCED management team and expect them to out fox veterans like Marotta and Giuntoli

Like is said we are NOT A SERIOUS CLUB

    2. Very True Ted.
I would add that in our scudetto winning season it was our team spirit that enabled us to be more than the sum of our parts.
      How far we have fallen

But when you gut a team and have no continuity this is the result

Say what you will about them but Alexi, Kessie, Tonali, Kjaer, Kalulu loved Milan and played for the colours

      1. They had support from directors that were genuine and open and there for the lads everyday. These clowns now throw them under the bus and show their mugs the next day in Milanello as if nothing happened and demand more from them. And they only show themselves when there are problems.

  32. It’s gonna take Conceicao a lot longer to unf*ck than I thought. Mentality doesn’t switch overnight and the players are showing that they aren’t there yet.

They talk about it after every game “Conceicao brought this… Conceicao brought that…” but no one is executing anything as was evident in this game. There was absolutely no fight in them. No attention. Couldn’t string basic passes together.

The depth is an issue of course as there’s no quality to replace the overworked players with. But the players have to be held accountable for their performances.

Fonseca may have use the wrong approach but his message was largely the same about that’s guys about the lack of drive and ambition.

A lot of wrongs to be fixed.

  33. This game is another example of why it’s so frustrating that they want to buy attackers. We have attackers capable of thriving. That isn’t the problem. The problem is that our defense is so bad that our players play scared and don’t want to attack or take risks. Our midfield is terrified of moving up field, and I don’t blame them, our defense is THAT bad.

Emerson has to leave. There is no way around it. And that is just step 1.

  34. Can you all now see that now why we kept outplayed by juve? Because no tiki taka play like barca, and no great creative midfielder like joao. Maybe this might open their mind how important creative and world class quality midfielder is.

  35. This is the result we deserve given our management only spends 20 million a transfer and thinks they will hit gold. The fact is we have Leao, Theo, and Mike that are top players with everyone else being good or poor. I like Pulisic and Reijnders as much as the next guy but their ceilings are lower than the three previous mentioned players. If we are to compete for the Scudetto and CL on a regular basis we need better players.

      1. I mention three players, anyone who isn’t caped up for Puli knows he is good player but Leao, Theo, and Mike are better players. We have since Pulisic play without Leao on his preferred left wing and it’s nothing to write home over. You can be a blind witness of the Lebron James of soccer all you want.

        1. Haha Pulisic is better and you know it. Don’t be upset that an American is the best player on Milan. It’s ok. Also, You mentioned 3 but one is a goalie. Don’t usually compare outfield players to goalies. But if you want Mike hasn’t been looking great lately. Letting in too many ones he should stop.

          1. Bro I am American, I was studying abroad in Dortmund when Christian broke through to the first team, I saw his first goal live against Hamburg. I met the guy in person, I am very aware of how good he is. I know he has to prove himself more than other European players. I get it but I’m not going to lie to myself and say he is world class. Very good player even my favorite but bro put down the cup.

          2. I think the fairest way to categorise them is that Mike, Theo, Leao are the most talented, as in world class talents, but talent only takes you so far. Pulisic is a class player, doen’t have as high a ceiling talent wise as the aforementioned, mostly because Theo and Leao are bigger and faster.
He is however the most consistent and hard working and therefore on the same level

        2. Seriously??? Are you talking potential or reality cus right now Pulisic is playing better than Leao or Theo and its not even close. That reality.

          1. I never said he was world class. But that’s not the point because neither are Leao, Theo, or Mike. I said he was the best player on the team and he has proven that the last 2 years

  36. We really looked
    1. short on ideas going forward
    2. To struggle getting out of the Juve press.

In particular the start to the second half was awful to watch. You could see that a goal conceded was just moments away.

Musah seemed to be playing as a RWB again and often outside of Emerson in defence.
Seriously Royal needs to be dropped. Cannot understand why he keeps getting starts.

The only positive I can take is the performance of Jovic in those last 15 mins.

    ———-

    No Pulisic no party!

    1. Agreed. With Thiaw injured, he needs to start over tomori, at least pav will try and challenge and is pretty damn good at it too. I genuinley think if it had been Pav instead of tomori on the 2nd goal, he would’ve prevented it. Jovic also deserves minutes, did more in 10 min than Tammy did all game

  37. Its not only Emerson Royal, Some players disappeared during the game. I didn’t see Tijani, Musah, Abraham, nor Fofana in the game.
There must be major changes starting from ownership, to management to many of the players.
    Else, nothing would work.

  38. This team lack creative midfield who can do wonders with the ball like pirlo used to or Beckham or Ronaldinho…

Imagine montolivo playing midfield and assisting the defense

We miss kessie that’s was the complete midfielder we lost and we never replaced

  39. At this rate we are better off starting the kids:

    Mike
    Calabria, gabbia, pavlovic, theo
    Terraciano, Zeroli
    Pulisic, liberali, leao
    Camarda

    Subs, Jovic, jimenez, bartesaghi, Vos

  40. This is why if choose quantity not quality wasting million Euro just for emergency back up player (Morata,Chukwueze,Okafor, royal) and sale Kalulu so clever Management….hope we finish 4th in the end

  41. Emerson – Bennacer – Musah on the right meant Juve only had to defend the left. Those three killed any ability to attach on the right on their own

  42. Imagine no Italians, so many good Italians the masters of defence let slip to other clubs and other leagues. I really thought that Gabbia was poor before his stint and Villa Real, now to me he is the strongest defensive link. Viva Berlusconi Milan

  43. Redbird needs to call Galliani and pay for the lunch, no free lunch.Find out more about the legendary President Berlusconi. He made Milan fans so proud and invincible.
