PM: Furlani’s promise to Galliani – the background on the Taremi-Jovic affair

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan signed Luka Jovic on transfer deadline day rather than keep Lorenzo Colombo because a promise had been made to former Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani at Monza, a report claims.

As has been reported by Pianeta Milan, Giorgio Furlani had promised Galliani that Colombo would be loaned to Monza once a new striker had arrived at Milan to be Olivier Giroud’s deputy.

That striker was expected to be Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto, but the deal fell away at the very last moment.

Furlani was left with two choices: He could either betray the promise to Galliani and keep Colombo as depth, or quickly move for Luka Jovic who was available for free.

If Milan had pulled the plug on Colombo to Monza, that would have also stopped Monza from letting Andrea Petagna go to Cagliari.

He opted to maintain relations with other Serie A clubs, but Jovic is yet to score and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Milan have effectively paid €500,000 for each shot he has taken as a Milan player so far.

As for Taremi, he could now end up at Inter in January if they are willing to pay a small compensation fee to Porto.

  1. Terrible. We should have signed Taremi and should now do it before Inter does in January. What a mess Furlani created. Most important position on the pitch and we have to rely on a 37yr old Giroud to play every 3 days and a backup trash in Jovic who nobody wanted. Lol. Embrassing. Great job Georgio!

  2. Taremi will ask for high wages and bonuses to intermediaries. If Inter want to splash so much cash out, then by all means. Not sure how they will balance the books, but whatever.

Camarda non sense has to stop. There is no reason for him to play with the senior team this early into his career. Absolutely idiotic suggestions.

  3. By now only Okafor and Pulisic look like summer coups. I’d put RLC there as well but he can’t manage more than a match a month with his poor fitness. All the rest are bit above average. Midfield was poorly constructed and fault for that goes to all three involved – Pioli, Furlani and Moncada. Wasting money on Chuk when we needed a new ST.

Tells a lot about how delusional people are if they honestly think playing a 15-year-old kid would save us now…
