Precedent suggests Giroud will be handed a two-game ban – the latest

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud was sent off for dissent in AC Milan’s 2-2 draw against Lecce on Saturday afternoon. As a result, the Frenchman could be handed up to a four-game ban, but will likely only miss the next two league games.

As we outlined yesterday, Giroud could be suspended for up to four games for the red card, which would be a huge blow for Milan. However, there is one precedent from earlier in the season that the Rossoneri can turn to.

As highlighted by Pazzo di Fanta, Sassuolo’s Maxime Lopes was suspended for two games earlier in the season. The motivation was that he said ‘a seriously insulting expression to the referee’. With this in mind, Giroud’s suspension should be more than two games.

This means that he would miss the games against Fiorentina and Frosinone. On the other hand, he would be able to focus fully big clash against Borussia Dortmund. The fact remains, however, that it was a very unnecessary red card even if the referee missed a clear handball.

Rafael Leao has sustained a minor hamstring injury, as was confirmed by the club this afternoon, and he should also miss the game against Fiorentina. On top of that, there are still a few injuries that Stefano Pioli will have to deal with.

  1. Don’t worry.
Pioli will return to old habits. Playing his favorite player or forcing a player to play out of position. Or even both..
So, don’t be surprised when Krunic becomes player no. 9 LOL
