Christian Pulisic has been named the player of the season based on SempreMilan’s ratings for 2024-25, totalling the ratings from each game and taking the average.
As in previous years, we published player ratings for every single game in the 2024-25 season, through the highs and lows. For one of our latest SempreMilan Insider articles, we published the average rating of each player (among other things), and Pulisic came out on top.

Before taking a look at the top three ratings – for the entire list, you need to head over to our Substack – the nature of these ratings should be explained. Since they are merely the averages of all ratings handed out during the season, they lack a little bit of nuance and are not ‘proper’ season evaluations.
Nevertheless, they do tell us some things about which players were able to perform well consistently, even if all players had some less impressive moments this season as well. Below are the top three players and their respective average ratings.

Decent season, but having anyone above Reijnders here is just straight memes.
Pulišić has a higher G+A while also doing way more defensives duties than Reijnders and better playmaking abilities displayed.
Watch the games and you see who constantly tried to carry the burde that is this team. Mainly Reijnders, although Pulisic did help.
Pulišić was the better player most of the season and did not only a lot of offensive job but also defensive (which Leão, Théo and Reijnders don’t do).
His crosses, through balls and set pieces are the best in this team.
Reijnders was hyped because he scored a lot for a midfielder.

I completely agree. Reijnders is our mvp without a doubt. Pulisic is good at converting chances but falls short in way too many games, being isolated and frozen out of a game. Reijnders is always playable, good at creating axis and debth. Losing him will reset this team to nothing imo
Disagree with that, Pulisic provided both key attacking moments and a defensive work rate that none of our other forwards could manage.
You my friend are right. At minimum they are equally important but Pulisic has been the best player over 2 years now. Reijnders was bad last year.
What did Tijj do in addition to the goals? Nothing really. Can’t defend one bit. Pulisic does everything. Look at the miles covered last season. I bet Pulisic was #1 in 90% of the matches.

PSG are a better team without MBappe. it’s modern football, you can’t carry a superstar forward now, every one of your 11 has to work hard in the defensive phase at the top level. There’s a reason Madrid don’t look as dangerous this year despite all MBappe’s goals.

PSG front line ran so much and tracked back that inter goalkeeper and defenders were always under duress, especially Dembele, but we are told on daily basis that great offensive players should not be asked to press and track back.

We were all robbed from watching a great final between PSG and Barcelona, but watching inter get embarrassed on a world wide stage was better.
Mbappe is the best striker in the world and scored tons of goals for RM this season. Job done. a WC Winner and a WC final hat-trick. What more do you want from the guy? I’d love to have him at Milan.

Tracking back and pressing are complete and direct OPPOSITE.
Dembele pressed the inter back line instead of tracking back to join in defending, now that’s what we expect from our forward players.
So what if they are “complete and direct OPPOSITE”?
Players can’t do 2 things that are complete and direct opposite?
Your defense starts with your front line. Dembele pressed hard all game long, while Kvara and Doue pressed and tracked back. Go and see where both were before they scored the 2nd goal.
In the Copa Italia final Bologna did the same thing. Bologna neither had better players than Milan, nor a better tactic, nor some great coach. They won because all 11 players ran and gave 100%. They beat Milan on effort.
Milan has a player in the front line that doesn’t press, doesn’t track back and doesn’t score goals. Basically, playing 10 vs 11.
Mbappe individually is a better player than Dembele and Kvara but unless he is scoring goals he has you playing a man down because he doesn’t run. Kvara and Dembele give a 100% and sacrifice for the team.

Every team is built differently, PSG is not your darling Milan.
If you played the game, you would understand the importance of shape.
At Milan, the best our front 3 can do is to press and not to track back because will completely ruin the attacking setup.
But at PSG, take a look at the midfield they have Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Joao Mendes, all three can pick a pass with their eyes closed.
Now with that kind of midfield, their strength is in passing, ball retention and distribution, the wingers have to support with the defensive duties with the guarantee that when the team counter attacks whether in or out of shape they will make a meaningful attacking play because they have good ball passers. That is an attack minded midfield.
Now, back at Milan, we have no players who can pick a pass except for a back passs. We also have no midfielders who can win the ball from the opposition, all we have are ball runners, all box-to-box shooting at random.
Salah won everything with Liverpool and is very weak defensively, did the coach or fans kill him? No, they instead play to his strength, and of course has many prestigious titles to his name.
Even Salah said he asked Arne Slot to relive him of defensive duties.
In Italy, the best model is to have a solid midfield which Milan is yet to have.
