Two players seem to have stood out above the others for praise after the 2-0 win AC Milan obtained against Bologna in round one.

The other is Tijjani Reijnders, who started in midfield and completed 28/28 passes, becoming the first Milan midfielder in Opta-recorded Milan history to play 90 minutes and not misplace a pass. He got an assist for the opener, too.

Reinjer is an upgrade to Tonali. I know some people won’t agree with me.
They are fools if they think Tonali is better than Reijnders

They are 2 different players.
Reijnders have some qualities that Tonali lacks and vice versa.
Reijnders is definitely the better passer and smarter with the ball at his feet, but Tonali has the physicality, the range and recovery speed that is currently missed in the line up.
They would have been very good together playing as mezzalas in the new Pioli setup. They would complement each other perfectly.
Reijnders is an upgrade in some aspects of the game but downgrade in others.

Lol Tonali has more weaknesses than Reijnders. And physicality? Where was he against Manchester City? Reijnders is different than Tonali you are right. A class above him.
Tijji and Tonali are two different players for different game types. I can’t say if one of better than the other. One has some attributes over the other and vice versa. It’s about how they get incorporated into the setup. And so far Pioli has done well to incorporate Tijji and play him to his best abilities.

Reijnders is a different player than Tonali. Different as in better in just about every way, including technically. Overall, he’s a better player.

Why would you compare Tonali when playing against Manchester City? Do you think Milan can do better against MC now? Reijnders is good, thats it, no need to compare it with Tonali.
