Pundit says Milan should have killed Empoli clash earlier amid second-half ‘suffering’

By Isak Möller -

Milan managed to get the job done and claim all three points against Empoli yesterday but it wasn’t easy by any means. The Rossoneri were far from spectacular and had to work extremely hard in defence.

In the first half, Stefano Pioli’s men conceded just one shot (it wasn’t even on target) and they were clearly in charge of the game, helped by Pierre Kalulu’s opener. Things changed slightly in the final 45 minutes, but Milan managed to see out the win.

Speaking live on MilanTV after the game, as cited by MilanNews, pundit Luca Serafini shared his thoughts on the game. He stated that there was indeed suffering in the second half and that, perhaps, Milan should have killed the game earlier.

“Milan could have tried to kill the game earlier. In the first half, there was tension, but not suffering, then in the second half there was suffering. It remains an important, painful victory against an opponent who played the game of their life,” he stated.

Milan are currently five points clear at the top and it remains to be seen if that will stand, given that Inter and Napoli will play later today (vs. Torino and Verona respectively). In any case, it was a huge win for the Rossoneri last night.
