Questions arise regarding Milan’s new stadium as 10-13k seats will be corporate

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and Inter are moving forward with their stadium project and the matter is currently in the hands of a public debate. Meanwhile, there has been a separate debate regarding the stadium’s capacity.

San Siro can host just under 80k fans and for many games this season, both for Milan and Inter, the stadium has been sold out. As a result, there have been discussions with regard to the stadium project as it currently plots a 60-65k stadium.

The official project that was presented to the council leaves some freedom to Milan and Inter as the capacity can be between 60-70k (with a final decision yet to be made). Anything more than that would require a third ring, which would be too expensive.

Some questions have arisen in the last few weeks as the official documents, via Calcio e Finanza, state that there will be 10-13k corporate seats. This means that the number of tickets available for ‘normal spectators’ would be a mere 50-55k. For perspective, there are around 3k corporate seats at San Siro.

  1. The death of the beautiful game has already started, so glad we are helping slowly usher in more corporatism into the already far too corporate structure of the current game.

Soon you’ll see less and less football and more and more showboating, outrageous hairstyles, marketing, ads, celebrity, etc just like american basketball and football. The game will get dumbed down just like those sports already have and be all about money and celebrity. So proud to have these owners!!……………….

Yeah, blame the owners… LOL. Why not blame Putin’s actions in Ukraine on Milan owners too?

      1. Not blaming the owners. It’s just a fact that the game and most sports are going this way. Laugh all you want but you’ll see it soon. You can already see it by how little club loyalty there is these days with players, cash rules all it seems.

        1. This started a long time ago bro. Look how much it costs to put on a WC now. Used to be countries could put on a WC no problem. Now because of sponsor demands new stadiums and complete infrastructure overhauls need to be made, costing billions, so two or three countries are making bids together to spread the cost. Olympics, same deal. Can’t just slap a coat of paint onto the facilities and hold the event, now you have to build these crazy “state-of-the-art” stadiums, train stations, whatever. This is capitalism. Other owners (Investcorp) would have been no different. The flip side of the coin is having owners with no money, but then you’d be criticizing them for not having any money to spend, #BrokeBird, etc. Can’t have your cake and eat it too bud.
