Rafael Leao says Juventus clash is ‘no different’ and Milan must ‘treat it as a final’

By Isak Möller -

In just 20 minutes, Milan will take on Juventus at San Siro with a clear goal in mind: to claim the three points and extend their lead at the top. However, with several absences, it will be far from easy for the Rossoneri.

Stefano Pioli will have to do without the likes of Matteo Gabbia, Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali, Rade Krunic, Alexis Saelemaekers, Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Certainly a blow for Milan, but they have shown their strength before.

Rafael Leao will be the centre-forward and after scoring against Benevento, he will be looking to get on target this evening as well. In an interview with Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, the youngster spoke about the game.

“I am focused on our match, a good match against a good team, on our home turf. Every match, we have to play to win and treat it as a final. This is no different, as we want the three points so we can stay top of the Serie A table,” he stated.

Inter lost their game against Sampdoria earlier today and this means that Milan could go four points clear at the top. However, as mentioned, tonight’s clash won’t be easy and winning it would certainly be a big sign.

Leao also spoke to Milan TV: “I think the team is doing well, we are ready and united again today. This is a nice match, and at home. We want to win also for our fans.

“A decisive match? A lot has changed, but the spirit hasn’t. We want to win. Juventus have great players but we want to play a good game and stay first.”

On playing as a centre-forward: “I’m closer to goal, I always try to help the team with goals and assists and that’s the important thing.”
