AC Milan have asked Juventus about the availability of striker Mario Mandzukic, according to a report.
It was claimed by the Italian media earlier on Monday that Paolo Maldini and the rest of the Rossoneri leadership are determined to sign one more forward before the window slams shut in just over two weeks.
There are doubts over whether Andre Silva and Samu Castillejo – both of whom could still leave the club before September 2 – provide adequate depth to Marco Giampaolo.
Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa still appears to be the primary target, but the deal is currently in doubt as Milan refuse to budge from their offer of €40m plus €5m in bonuses.
As a result, it was suggested on Sunday that Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz was being considered as an alternative, but now Rai Sport have thrown a new name into the hat.
The Italian outlet (via Calciomercato.com) state that Milan have enquired about Juventus and Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic.
The 33-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United prior to the English transfer window closing and has been rumoured to be available for around €15m.
Mandzukic has amassed 44 goals and 24 assists in 162 competitive appearances for the Turin-based club.
