Rangnick entourage confirms Milan move is off: “Ralf will not take on any role at AC Milan”

By Isak Möller -

After several months of reports, many suggesting that the matter was all but announced, AC Milan have decided to pull the plug on Ralf Rangnick’s arrival. In fact, the German won’t be joining the club.

The current Red Bull director was expected to lead the Rossoneri’s youth revolution this summer, changing the management completely. However, due to Stefano Pioli’s recent success, this won’t be the case next season.

Earlier this evening, Kicker reported that Milan have decided to keep the former Fiorentina boss, thus cancelling the arrival of Rangnick. Now, Bild have provided more information on the matter.

Rangnick’s consultant, Marc Kosicke, confirmed to the newspaper that the manager and Milan have decided not to move forward together. Recently, it has been suggested that he could come in just as a director, but that won’t be the case either.

“AC Milan and Ralf Rangnick have agreed that it is not the right time at the moment and that there is no momentum for working together. Because of this and taking into account the good development and the results under coach Pioli, it was jointly decided that Ralf will not take on any role at AC Milan,” he said.

Certainly, it’s a surprising turn of events that few expected, although Pioli’s success has raised some questions.
