AS: Real Madrid considered cutting playmaker’s loan at Milan short – the background

By Isak Möller -

Brahim Diaz played 45 minutes in AC Milan’s friendly win against Köln this evening and while it wasn’t a huge success, he looked determined. A key factor considering that he almost left the Rossoneri.

The Spaniard’s first season with Milan was promising and he ended it very well, resulting in the new two-year loan. This past season, however, was a big disappointment as he started the season well and then completely faded.

In fact, as reported by AS, Real Madrid even considered cutting the loan short to help Diaz get his career back on track. The relations with Milan are excellent and that would have been easy, but the parties agreed to honour the loan after discussing the matter.

Real Madrid are monitoring the situation closely and they will be hoping to see a leap in quality from Milan’s No.10 this season. Otherwise, we can be sure that the Rossoneri won’t trigger the €22m buy-out clause in the contract.

  1. Just use him one more season . His salary only 1m euro nett ( real madrid pay half). With loan fee only 3m euro / season. We can use him for super sub

  2. Brahim Diaz is very good technically, & can pass fair good enough.
But what made him easy to be silenced is when he has no room to dribble (because he has only dribble to bring any potential penetrations). If Brahim has better long-shot or faster & more agile, i think he can be like Eden Hazard when at Lille.

  3. Pep is just like zidane… u’ve to trust them when they say no to players…pep didn’t like Diaz… check the number of players zidane decided not to use and almost all of them proved right why zidane did not use them.
