Reijnders discusses his form and star exclusions: “We must show something more”

Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Lazio, Tijjani Reijnders spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the situation. The Dutchman was also asked about Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao being benched, providing a diplomatic answer.

Milan need to bounce back with a strong performance tonight as the first two games were subpar, to say the least. The Rossoneri have just one point to their name and heading into the break without a win would be near disastrous.

Speaking to DAZN and MilanTV ahead of the game, as streamed on YouTube, Reijnders shared his thoughts on the poor start to the season and Paulo Fonseca’s decisions. He stated that whoever replaces the stars in the XI is up to the task.

On the difficult start…

“Today’s a very important match for us because of the difficult start, we want to finish well ahead of the international break.”

“There was a problem with the attitude, we have to work and change this, starting with this match.”

On arriving late due to the Euros…

“In the beginning, it was a bit hard because the team was already working on the new tactics, but everybody helped me to adapt as quickly as possible. I feel good.”

On the exclusions of Theo and Leao…

“We have to react to the choice of the coach, and show something more. Theo and Rafa are very important but whoever replaces them is up to the task.”

On the new signings…

“They have shown that they can help us to be a better team, new energy and new things on the training ground,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if Milan will succeed and the owner Gerry Cardinale will certainly be watching on from a distance. Without a win, or at the very least a good performance, some very difficult evaluations will await the management.
