Reina: “Everyone must give at least 10% more”

By Anthony Torgrude -

AC Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina has admitted that everyone at the club needs to give 10% more between now and the end of the season.

The Rossoneri were eliminated from the Europa League group stages in embarrassing fashion this week, as a 3-1 loss to Olympiacos sealed the coffin.

Reina was the starting goalkeeper in that game whose blunder caused the first goal, and also failed to save the penalty that finished Milan off.

We were wounded by the elimination,” he told Sky Italia.

“We have to respond and work hard. We made the biggest mistakes, not the referee. We could advance with two of three outcomes and just weren’t determined enough to win qualification.

“We’ll all review the game and determine the changes that must be made. Everyone must give at least 10% more than we’ve done so far.

When asked about Coach Gattuso’s responsibility in the matter, the Spaniard replied: “He is the captain of this ship and always stands up to take responsibility. We all want to get the season back on track, that before Thursday was not going that bad.”

“On Tuesday, we must go to Bologna with the a chip on it shoulders and try to win a run of games before the Christmas break so we can start the second half of the season in a good position.”
