Report: Barcelona make decision on future of midfielder amid €30m Milan links

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona have made a decision on the future of midfielder Carles Alena amid recent links with a move to AC Milan, a report claims.

Recently, Calciomercato.it claimed that Barca boss Ernesto Valverde could choose to sell a couple of midfielders in the winter market, namely Alena and Ivan Rakitic – another Milan target.

Alena faces an uncertain future with the Blaugrana having made just one appearance in LaLiga so far this season.

The outlet claimed that Milan and Napoli are attentive to his situation, while Premier League side Spurs and Real Betis were also linked with Alena, who is valued at round €30m.

According to Calciomercato.it – who cite Catalan outlet Sport – Barcelona have agreed to let the 21-year-old leave on dry loan in the January window.

This is with the objective of finding him consistent game time in order to aid his development, though it does add that Barcelona would prefer to loan him to a fellow LaLiga side.

Real Betis, Getafe, Celta Vigo and Granada are all keen on his signature, the report concludes.
