Report: San Siro could host the Nations League finals in 2021 – the situation

By Isak Möller -

While Milan and Inter are preparing for a future without the San Siro stadium, the city council of Milan are looking to use it while they still can. In fact, they are ready to compete for the Nations League finals in 2021, a report claims.

According to ANSA, as cited by Calciomercato.com, Milan is ready to formalize the candidacy to host the Nations League finals in 2021. The city council has approved the idea and they will now apply to UEFA.

The Nations League is an important tournament for national teams and it’s an event that would have a strong media and economic impact on the city. In 2016, the Champions League final was held in Milan and that was a success.

The tournament is held every two years and that of 2021 will be the second edition. The finals will take place between the months of September and October. The Milan candidacy dossier, drawn up in collaboration with the FIGC, will be delivered by September 16.
