Report: Spurs are new leaders in race for Milan-linked Barcelona man valued at €12m

There is a new leader in the race to sign Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic, a report claims, with the midfielder having been linked with a move to Milan.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported earlier in the month Milan are planning another attempt at signing the Croatian international, who is destined to leave Barcelona at the end of the season.

Another Spain-based paper (Sport) also confirmed that the Rossoneri are keen on signing the former Sevilla star, along with rivals Inter, while the player himself called Barcelona out over their treatment of him.

According to the latest from Mundo Deportivo (via MilanLive), Rakitic is one of the players that the Blaugrana have decided to sacrifice, and the fact his contract expires in 2021 means he can leave for around €12m.

Sevilla and Villarreal are showing interest but the chances of a move domestically seems to be getting increasingly slim, but the report adds that the club currently leading for Rakitic would be Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham. Juventus, meanwhile, are out of the race.
