AC Milan appear to have taken a back seat in the race for Real Madrid playmaker Dani Ceballos, at least according to reports.
The Rossoneri were heavily linked with a move for Ceballos last summer but he ended up joining Arsenal on a season-long loan, and now the Gunners are understood to be keen on making the deal permanent.
According to Sam Dean of the Telegraph on Twitter, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed Ceballos has told him he wants to return to Arsenal, but Real Madrid’s plans are unclear.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo writes that Ceballos has communicated to Real Madrid his desire to return to Real Betis, the club where he broke through in LaLiga.
Ceballos seems destined to leave Real Madrid regardless, but it appears Milan will not be his destination.
