Repubblica: Correa not the only objective; a midfielder could still arrive

Angel Correa is not the only current mercato objective for AC Milan, according to Sunday’s edition of La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com).

Widespread reports have suggested that Correa is the primary target for the Rossoneri management between now and the end of the transfer window.

At present though there is a gap between offer and valuation: Milan have made a bid of €40m plus bonuses but that is at least €10m short of Atletico’s asking price, as Calciomercato.com note.

Sunday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as transcribed by MilanNews.it) suggested that Milan director Boban’s friendship with Atleti president Miguel Angel Gil could work as an advantage in talks.

However, according to La Repubblica not all of the focus in the current transfer window is on Correa, as other targets are in mind.

The Rome-based newspaper makes the bold claim that Milan could also look for a surprise signing, perhaps in midfield, if Andre Silva is sold between now and September 2.

Silva’s future appears to be away from San Siro, but reports from Calciomercato.com earlier on Sunday claimed there is a chance he could remain and Giampaolo could reintegrate him into the first team.
