Repubblica: Pioli and Mourinho must find solutions amid doubts over future

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Roma will renew hostilities at San Siro this evening, with both teams coming into the game in a very delicate moment.

There seems to be a couple of certainties regarding the Serie A fixture list for Milan: one is that there will be 38 games, and the other is that they will play Roma at home in January with a lot on the line.

That has happened for the past three years in a row now, and this morning’s edition of La Repubblica (via MilanNews) previews the match between the Rossoneri and Giallorossi starting from the situation of the two coaches, Stefano Pioli and Jose Mourinho.

The headline reads: ‘The most difficult night for Pioli and Mourinho’. Both coaches live with expectations that are not being met, and both are being evaluated by their respective owners regarding their future, not so much now but more for the end of the season.

Milan managed to take the lead against Atalanta in their midweek Coppa Italia clash, but two goals from Teun Koopmeiners – one via a controversial penalty – saw another trophy vanish out of sight for the Rossoneri.

Thus, they will need to bounce back immediately in the league against Roma, who also lost in the cup in midweek but against their fierce rivals Lazio, failing to score in a 1-0 defeat.
