Ronaldinho: “It doesn’t matter who scores; all that matters is to beat Inter”

Former AC Milan star Ronaldinho has insisted that it is possible for Milan to qualify for the Champions League this season despite a slow start.

The Derby della Madonnina between Inter and Milan is on Sunday, and the former Brazil international bagged the winner for the Rossoneri in the fixture in 2008.

“I remember it very well, whenever I come back to Italy the fans remind me of it. It was a beautiful moment,” Ronaldinho told Premium Sport.

“The current side? Milan are always a strong side with a great history, we need to give the players and the Coach [Vincenzo Montella] time to get back to doing great things.

“I think it’s possible they can qualify for the next Champions League.”

Milan currently sit seven points behind their city rivals following a slow start to the season in which they have lost three of their opening seven Serie A fixtures.

“In the time of my experience in Milan, who would have ever imagined that Berlusconi and Moratti would abandon their love? No, it was not foreseeable. But there is, it is the evolution of a football that is becoming more and more about business,” the former Barcelona man went on to tell La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“As a Rossoneri fan, I would very much like to win this derby. Who could solve the challenge? I do not care. It matters just to beat Inter, not who scores.”
