Argentina, Brazil and France seem to be the favourites in the World Cup 2022, which will kick off tonight, but there are a few teams that could surprise us. Portugal is one of them, if you ask Arrigo Sacchi.
Rafael Leao is obviously part of the Portuguese side that will face Ghana in their opening clash on Thursday. It remains to be seen if he will play from start, but we will surely see him off the bench in the tournament.
Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by SempreMilan.it, former Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi shared his opinions on the World Cup. When asked about which team could surprise us, he responded Portugal and named Leao as one of the reasons.
“Portugal could surprise because, apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, they have players of great quality. I think of Leao, but also Bernardo Silva. And in defence, they are tough,” he stated.
It remains to be seen how far Portugal will go in the tournament, as it’s incredibly hard to predict. There are many strong teams this season and there are bound to be a few positive as well as negative surprises.
