Sampdoria director confirms they will ‘wait a little longer’ for Milan outcast

Matteo Gabbia is expected to leave AC Milan on loan this summer in order to get some valuable playing time under his belt. A move to Sampdoria appears to be imminent, but there are some delays.

The renewals of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, which should be announced later today, have delayed various operations on the market including Gabbia-Sampdoria. The youngster needs playing time and Milan are keen on sending him out on loan.

In an interview with Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, Sampdoria’s sporting director Daniele Faggiano revealed that they are willing to wait a little longer than they normally would for a player. In other words, they really want Gabbia.

“Gabbia? He’s a passion of the whole club, not just [Marco] Giampaolo. I have followed him for a long time. If Milan want to keep him, there will be a good reason for that. We will wait a little longer than for other players,” he stated.

The deal should materialise and it appears to be just a matter of time, unless Stefano Pioli thinks Milan need to make a few defensive signings first. Gabbia has been out on loan before but never to another Serie A club.
