Scaroni meets San Donato Mayor to discuss Milan project: “Truly represent an opportunity”

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni had a meeting with the Mayor of San Donato earlier today, and the Mayor revealed the proceedings of the meeting after its conclusion.

The Stadium situation has moved little in recent months, with several hypotheses put forward with little actual change. In January the prospect of a renovation of San Siro looked possible, but both Milanese clubs opted against it.

Now, there is a possibility that both clubs come together to buy the stadium. However, Milan have asked for a ‘San Donato clause’, showing that they are still keeping their eye on that project as opposed to being fully focused on staying put.

Given the club has invested in the San Francesco area already, the club will continue to keep the idea open, and the meeting today suggests that this is still the case. Francesco Squeri spoke after a meeting at the City Hall, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“I would like to thank President Scaroni for having accepted the invitation to discuss Milan’s intentions in person. I leave this meeting having had further confirmation of the seriousness and concreteness of the project that the club is pursuing for the San Francesco area.

“On the one hand, we are aware that a hypothesis on Milan is still open, but on the other hand, as I reiterated to Scaroni, the green light from our Administration remains tied to the successful outcome of the Programme Agreement, which must guarantee a series of answers and protections for our citizens and our territory so that the stadium in San Donato can truly represent an opportunity.”
