The Rossoneri had a great month of May as they picked up 4 wins from 4 games, resulting in the club winning their 19th League title after a brilliant end to the season.
Fortunately for Milan these 4 wins were enough to guarantee them winning the title as we come to the end of what was a magnificent season. Several players have improved massively throughout this season with the likes of Maignan, Tomori, Kalulu, Theo, Tonali and Leao leading the way.
However, we do need to pick out the best three performers for the last month.
3. Tomori and Kalulu – Average rating: 7.50
It’s probably the first time we have two players sharing a top spot, but we feel like the Tomori-Kalulu duo has been crucial in the last third of the season as they barely led a goal in and were pivotal in the race for the Scudetto.
A near flawless performance in May for the two centre-backs and the future really looks bright.
2. Tonali – Average rating: 7.63
The Italian had a great season as he really established himself in the Starting XI. He did, however, had a bit of a downturn in the second half of the season, but he managed to reach peak form just in time for the crucial games of the season as he worked hard in both phases of the game and even managed to scored two very important goals against Hellas Verona that got Milan even closer to the title.
1. Leao – Average rating: 8.38
With 2 goals and 5 assists in four games to end the season, Rafael Leao was the driving force in Milan’s attack as he lead the way towards the 19th Scudetto and won himself the “Player of the Season” award along the way.
The youngster was simply electric and managed to keep his cool when it mattered the most. Unstoppable on that left flank as he was gliding past defenders and after a breakthrough season like this one the management have to put Leao’s renewal as the number one priority.
