Serie A resumption thrown into jeopardy as Fiorentina confirm six cases of COVID-19

By Oliver Fisher -

The plans regarding the resumption of Serie A have been thrust into jeopardy as Fiorentina have confirmed six new cases of COVID-19.

Teams across Italy are slowly beginning to return to training, with a number of Milan players even reporting to Milanello and La Madonnina clinic for medical checks and to begin individual training.

There has been optimism in the air regarding the resumption of the Serie A campaign, especially with the news that there were 274 deaths related to Coronavirus over the last 24 hours, continuing the trend of decline.

However, Fiorentina have now announced they have found six new COVID-19 cases – three players and three staff.

This comes after Patrick Cutrone, German Pezzella and Dusan Vlahovic all tested positive last month, and of course throws question marks upon any short-term plans to resume the season in Italy.
