Shevchenko urges Milan to keep Pioli even without UCL: “It shouldn’t be thrown away”

By Isak Möller -

Stefano Pioli has done a very good job with this Milan side, sitting at the top of the standings after the first half of the season. However, it hasn’t been perfect this year, now at risk of finishing outside the top four.

It would be a disaster sporting-wise to miss out on the Champions League once again, especially considering how ‘safe’ they seemed in this respect just a few months ago. And tomorrow, everything will be decided against Atalanta.

In an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews, Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko spoke about the situation. He urged the Rossoneri not to part ways with Pioli at the end of the season, even without UCL.

“Milan have had a good season. They failed to take advantage of the match against Cagliari, but they must close with a success. And in any case, an excellent season cannot be cancelled.

“The work of a coach depends on the results, this is our reality. But Pioli has done a job that should not be thrown away. The team is with him, winning against Juve and Torino away isn’t easy. Unfortunately, everything is still open, but I’m confident,” he stated.

Regardless of Pioli’s future, it’s clear that not getting a Champions League ticket would be a huge disappointment and a failure. The players have an opportunity to make it right tomorrow evening, but it won’t be easy.

  1. Most of the time players play bad and managers are sacked but on this case we have seen players lack intensity Or clueless with disaster changes from the manager.
Regardless of the result Pioli has to go.

Even inconsistent Dortmund qualified when Ac could take an advantage already before yet they brought to failure at Cagiliari and what would be a season end thriller becomes a do Or die situation.

We cannot forget 5-0 defeat at Atalanta home in previous season.
