Shocking numbers behind Milan’s humiliating loss revealed – not a single shot on target

By Isak Möller -

Milan failed to take advantage of what was a good opportunity, as Juve lost to Napoli last night and Inter will take on Lazio today. Instead of three points against Spezia, in 17th place before the game, they were outplayed.

Many things can be said about the loss, where to put the blame and so on, but ultimately the responsibility will fall on Stefano Pioli. The approach to the game was completely wrong, despite the fact that Spezia’s game plan was pretty predictable.

But even with the home side playing so well, Milan should have done a lot more to at least threaten them a bit. In 90 minutes, against the 17th-place team, the league leaders didn’t even register a single shot on target.

That is shocking numbers for a Scudetto contender, and that dream could very well slip away from them this evening. Take a look at all the numbers from the game below.

55% possession – that says nothing. What is important is what you do with the ball when you have it.
