Tuttosport: The six midfield options Milan could have heading into 2022-23

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan now know that they will say goodbye to Franck Kessie at the end of the season, so the management are aiming to construct the midfield of the future.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) explains this morning, Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer and the versatility man Rade Krunic are sure of a place in the squad next season, but Tiemoué Bakayoko could have his two-year loan spell terminated early because he is failing to convince.

The arrival of Yacine Adli from Bordeaux is anticipated and the return of Tommaso Pobega from his loan at Torino is also on the cards, but if Bakayoko were to leave then there would certainly be the need for another signing.

Renato Sanches is the first choice target to bolster the midfield and the Rossoneri tried to bring him to Milanello during the winter transfer market, but no agreement was found with the player despite striking a €20m deal with Lille.

His name is still at the top of Maldini and Massara’s wish list even if there are doubts about his physical condition given the repeated injuries he is suffering from, while there is competition from Juventus to deal with.
