In addition to a centre-back and a midfielder, Milan could end up bringing in a striker to reinforce the attacking department. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury has highlighted that they currently lack a good alternative.
Rafael Leao has played as the centre-forward recently, doing a decent job with three goals in five league games. That being said, he’s a very different player and Milan could bring in one that’s more similar to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, such as Mario Mandzukic.
According to Sky Italia (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri aren’t disputing the Croatian’s technical ability, but evaluations are underway with regards other factors. At the age of 34, the striker isn’t exactly young anymore.
Then there is the salary, as Mandzukic most likely would get a deal worth at least €3m. Elliott Management, the Milan owners, have always promoted young players and this would go against that. Of course, though, it’s tempting given his qualities.
