Sky: Atletico man among ‘last-minute opportunities’ for Milan to replace Calhanoglu

By Isak Möller -

Milan are looking for a playmaker on the transfer market following the departure of Hakan Calhanoglu, who has officially signed for Inter. Several players have already been mentioned as potential replacements for the No.10.

The Rossoneri are currently in negotiations with Real Madrid over Brahim Diaz, but due to Calhanoglu’s departure another playmaker will also be needed. According to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, there are several players on their radar.

The strategy is to wait and see if some players that are no longer key for their respective club will be available on a cheap, or on loan. The list includes Ziyech, Ilicic, Rafinha, James Rodriguez, Under, Lemar, who could be last-minute opportunities.

It’s the first time Lemar’s name has been mentioned and it would certainly be an interesting signing for Milan. However, a lot can happen in the upcoming weeks and the club could end up going for someone completely different.

  1. man why tf are we downgrading. Elliot should come up and claim that it’s the financial rules due to which Merdanoghlu left. (he was bang avg but still). (w/o a proper replacement it’s gonna be hard on us)

they should give us enough money (30M) for a fckin replacement

    1. So if he was average, why be dick about him leaving for free? And whose “us” when you say give money to? you only watch the games on occasion assuming that you do even watch Milan matches. Letting Hakan go is good riddance because he wasn’t getting what he wanted at Milan.

  2. LOL what an embarrassment. Basically we are saying we will take whatever is left over, whatever nobody else wants – and only on loan to boot!! WTF. What a fkn disgrace we are becoming. From the high of qualifying for CL and second place finish to this. We won’t sell players before their contracts expire to get a transfer fee, yet we won’t pay them either, players over w0M are deemed “excessive,” we can’t even complete deals we made for players we fought to get (Tonali). WTF is happening here. Shameful

    1. These are real active contracts we are talking about. Before you go around calling saying what an embarrassment, take time to understand how rules work and not create yourself into an idiot.

    1. Not enough. Pessina is deep laying. He might serve as back up for Kessie or Benacer but certainly not that snake. The best thing to do is in fact to wait it out and allow the agents to offer clients to Milan. Think about it.

    1. So far in our 2021 mercato, 13 striker names are reported for AC Milan to have been linked, or rumored, to be in contact with are as follows:

      1. Andrea Belotti
      2. Dusan Vlahovic
      3. Patson Daka
      4. Gianluca Scamacca
      5. Giacomo Olzer (renewed)
      6. Olivier Giroud
      7. Rodrigo De Paul (no longer)
      8. Hakim Ziyech
      9. Giacomo Raspodi
      10. Amine Adli
      11. Arkadiusz Milik
      12. Sasa Kalajdic
      13. Roman Yaremchuk

Keep in mind that the mercato is only beginning so this list can only thicken or slim down. Milan have indicated they cannot rely on Ibrahimovic alone up front. So if the links are reliable then these options are not inadequate at all. Personally, I prefer someone young with Serie A experience already so my three most likely to join from this list have to be no.1 and no.2 and no.4.

      1. you are actually right the transfer window has not even started yet, all the shuffling being done are early deals and free transfers the negotiations take time also don’t worry, milan management may not be clever but they are not idiots too, they know they need statement signings and have to fill in gaps, they are not such big idiots, they are also somewhat litening to fans too, thats why they haven’t sold hauge yet, even if they do, they will ask for a buy back clause or cut price deal. but some players need to leave thats where we can raise our voices, and can deem their desicions wrong after they fail in an area, they behave like misers but for a valid reason.

      2. I obvious Elliot management aren’t interested in paying transfer fees and are only looking for free transfer opportunities from other clubs.. We won’t always be lucky to get great deals on this note
