Sky: Better performances, same spirit, new faces – how Fonseca plans to remodel Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Paulo Fonseca did not manage to get off to a winning start during his first game as AC Milan head coach, drawing 2-2 with Torino at San Siro on Saturday night.

According to Sky, the head coach wants to ‘erase the performance and save the reaction, the spirit, the desire not to lose’ that his side showed as they battled back from two goals down in the final 10 minutes to earn a draw.

Fonseca has another week of work with everyone in his squad aside from Alvaro Morata, and then on Saturday it will be the first of two consecutive away games for Milan at the Tardini against Parma, which precedes the trip to the capital to face Lazio.

Before the international break that follows the latter game, the Portuguese will start to remodel his team starting next Saturday, making it as similar as possible to the one imagined and designed together with the Rossoneri management.

That means Theo Hernandez, Strahinja Pavlovic, Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana at the same time from the start, in addition to Morata when he is back from injury, which should indeed be after the break.

The feeling is that the starting XI could change quite drastically in the coming two or three weeks and that the characteristics of the players that come in will be useful to Milan. They will take time to reach their top condition, yet time will be afforded as long as the results come.
