Sky: Igli Tare tempted by Milan move as Maldini makes him No.1 target

Paolo Maldini has chosen Lazio sporting director Igli Tare as the man to replace Leonardo at AC Milan, according to a report.

Maldini is expected to be formally announced as the Rossoneri’s new technical director, and as part of that he will be able to help pick his own support staff, including the important role of sporting director.

With Marco Giampaolo seemingly set to succeed Gennaro Gattuso as head coach, attentions have now turned to getting the right people in place for an important summer mercato.

According to Sky Italia, Maldini has chosen Lazio sporting director Igli Tare as the man he wants in charge of transfers.

Tare has an impressive track record of sourcing and signing players on good deals. He gave Lazio the likes of Miroslav Klose on a free, Ciro Immobile (€9m) and Luis Alberto (€4m).

He also brought in other stars such as Federico Marchetti, Felipe Anderson, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Keita Balde and Thomas Strakosha.

The report states that Tare is ‘very tempted’ by the idea of a move to San Siro in order to undertake a new challenge.
