Sky journalist says Krunic is ‘on the fringes’ at Milan: “There is always Fenerbahce”

By Isak Möller -

Following a honeymoon period at the start of the season, Rade Krunic’s relationship with Stefano Pioli has seemingly deteriorated. The Bosnian has been dropped down the pecking order and could leave AC Milan in January, a report claims.

Krunci was a key player for Milan at the start of the season, playing in the No.6 role of the midfield three. However, since Pioli reverted to a midfield tandem, the Bosnian has been getting less space and now Ismael Bennacer is back as well.

Against Frosinone yesterday, Yacine Adli came off the bench as well as Tommaso Pobega, but Krunic remained on it despite not starting against Dortmund. Speaking live on Sky Italia, as cited by Francesco Nasato, Peppe Di Stefano provided the latest on the matter.

“Krunic is now on the fringes of Milan’s project. For Pioli, the starting midfield to date is made up of Reijnders, Musah and Loftus-Cheek. Bennacer is returning to full strength and Adli will have his chances. Krunic can leave in January, there’s always Fenerbahce,” he stated.

Fenerbahce were extremely keen in the summer and will likely try again in January, especially since Milan have lowered their demands. In the meantime, the Rossoneri will be focused on getting Bennacer back into top condition.

  1. I know everyone is happy that about Benny being back, Jovic finally on scoresheet, Pioli with commendable tactical changes, but this is the news we should be more excited about.

  2. I don’t hate on Krunic like a lot of others. He’s a very serviceable sub. Can play a lot of different roles. He’s not a game changer but he’s solid. And you need solid minutes. We won the scudetto with him picking up quite a few minutes in quite a few positions.

If he wants too much to renew, sell him. If he’s willing to negotiate for a reasonable wage, keep him.

  3. Krunic is exactly the kind of player a youth player from our own academy may be able to replace. Conversely that means he is in the way of our youth players getting first team minutes. Brescianini went to Frosinone – Are we really better served with a bench full of foreigners or should we make more of an effort to promote our own? Squad players who are Milanisti and perhaps even Italian are a good place to start, if we want to create a sustainable project.

    1. Probably why Krunic played over Brescianini. The best Brescianini could do was Frosinone. He played previously for Virtus Entella and Cosenza. That’s his level. Not everyone in the Primavera are Serie A quality. Sure it sounds good to promote youth but we’re just not that club. We’re a results first club and sometimes that means the rope even for youth players is short
