Sky journalist gives worrying Camarda renewal update: “The feelings are not positive”

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan starlet Francesco Camarda recently turned 16, making him eligible to sign his first professional contract. However, he has not done so yet, and today, a journalist has provided a worrying update.

Reports have suggested in recent months that the club have planned to delay his contract signing until after the end of the season to their own benefit. Doing so would allow them an extra year to renegotiate a deal instead of being forced to renew his contract when he turns 18 and running the risk of losing him then.

Additionally, reports have consistently said that the club remain confident about the chances of his signing, but until there is anything official, it is a nervy waiting game that Milan will want to end as soon as they can.

Peppe Di Stefano spoke to Sky Sport about the future of Camarda, and his words have been relayed by Pianeta Milan.

“He hasn’t signed his first contract yet and this is not good news for me. I don’t have positive feelings in relation to this. It’s a question of who the first team and Under-23 coaches will be, it’s a question of the signing… I think we need to reset because he’s too young. We will have to understand the intentions of both sides.

“At the moment the feelings are not positive, because if there had been an agreement the boy would obviously have already renewed. That would be a shame for everyone. We don’t know if he will become a player or not, but we are convinced that he will get a chance because he keeps scoring goals. We hope we don’t lose him for our football.”

  1. Hot take here but I’m very calm about Camarda. The rumours arebmost likely the agents mixing things up to get as much as possible out of it. And if he’s actually not going to sign, I won’t lose much sleep over it. Brutal example i know, but its better to lose a baby via a week 10 miscarriage than to lose a child already born. If he goes best of luck and we will move forward. If he stays, then we have a gem in 3 to 4 years at least.

Compared to Alexandre Pato’s fall off and losing Gigio, losing Camarda would be of little impact IMO. The boy is incredibly talented but hes no Pato or Donnaruma at youth level. Lets focus on keeping Theo as priority 1, keeping Mike as 2 and shoring up the 9,6 and maybe 2 and 3 positions.

Aaaaand having watched at least 10 primavera games since their magical UEFA run last year, Zeroli and Simić are closer to team 1 action than Camarda as is. They deserve contracts on performance even more than Camarda. Focus on win now signings. The future will sort itself out.

    1. I fully agree with this take about Camarda, the fall of Pato was a tough pill to swallow… followed by the rise and fall of El Shaarawy second and Donnaruma third.

I’m actually tired of all the Camarda news we’re seeing. All I care is a news saying that he signed or that he left. That’s all.

On a related note, Simic contract also expires next year

  2. this journalist knows nothing. Milan is holding on to the contract for the reason stated, if signed at the end of the season rather than now, it’s better for Milan. There is always a risk he will go to Real Madrid or Bayern or whatever other big team instead, but it has nothing to do with the timing of the signature. When time comes to renew so that he can be kept another year (3 instead of 2) then we’ll see if he will sign or if he will sign with a richer team. I understand that he loves Milan and wants to stay.

Very useless piece of reporting, this one. Nothing more than misinformed click bait.

  3. Not sure why Pepe’s feelings are an indication of anything other than that he might need a therapist to address his feelings…

  4. I’ve said it before and it’s in the word salad that is this article, too.

Camarda won’t commit for the 3rd season unless the u23 side becomes a reality.

He’s otherwise faced with 3 seasons with a club that has no idea how to progress development of a player from the youth system into the senior system.

  5. I won’t speculate whether this is journo jibberish and sensationalism selling paper but if kid really leaves I just hope it’s not one of our domestic rivals. That would hurt.
