Sky: Expiring contract key as Bologna agree on low fee with Milan over Calabria

Davide Calabria will soon complete his move to Bologna, having left Milanello earlier today, and Milan will only bank a small amount for his departure. Of course, there is a very logical reason for this.

After a season with many ups and downs, Milan decided to part ways with Calabria and the former captain accepted the solution, reaching an agreement with Bologna. As he left Milanello earlier today, he was in tears but also stated that a new chapter has begun for him.

The right-back’s contract will expire in the summer and as a result, Bologna will only pay €2m to Milan for the player, as reported by Sky Italia (via MilanNews). It will result in a capital gain, seeing as Calabria came through the youth ranks, but it’s obviously not a huge one.

Milan have also decided not to replace the 28-year-old, instead relying on the new signing Kyle Walker and the youngster Alex Jimenez in that position. The former is expected to make his debut tomorrow as Milan will take on Inter in the Derby della Madonnina – certainly a baptism of fire.

Calabria’s move should be made official soon, but of course he needs to undergo the medical tests and sign the contract first.

  1. What happened is coach use Calabira who can’t redeem himself but on contrary, he played even worse and on the bench are Jimenez or Terracciano who needs some games to gain experience…

Sell, sell them all. Yearly cost for Morata is almost 12 million. That’s absurd for striker who can only be on the bench. They should keep Jovic only if they couldn’t manage to bring powerful and strong striker.

Now Emerson Royal costs 9mill per year, and for that money they could bring one Italian youngster or even kind of Bellanova.

With some older flops, Milan have maybe 50 million of yearly costs in players who can’t perform.

Let’s see them all: Tomori (he can’t show us high class CB) Royal, Florenzi, Ruben Loftus, Okafor, Chukwueze and Jovic.

Luckily we got back something of Bennacer.

Ballo Toure, now Calabria, and Morata are finally resolved.

In the summer, we will have Sale, Adli, Pobega, Colombo, Pellegrino, Lazetic, Kalulu.

Are they going to sell them or keep some.of them.. It is interesting.
Lazetic and Pellegrino should be permanently sold.

Sale adli pobega Colombo kalulu: only for fair price. Milan will need capital gain specially in case without UCL

  2. He might not have been the sharpest knife, but he was the captain for a reason. Selling a 28 year old defender that used to be our captain… what a disgrace.. i’m sure there are huge turbulences in the background and we only see the tip of the iceberg. There is more to come i guess.

    1. 2 million for experience captain and best peak age is too cheap.

But management need to kick someone out. Walker come, calabria kick out (it should be emerson, but emerson is injured).
      Gimenez come, moratta kick out.
If felix come, who will be kick out?

  3. Selling Calabria for whatever the reason, and he goes to Bologna and is immediately I’m a team that is better in the standings than Milan! Isn’t that a “promotion”?🤣

  4. At last. The worst Milan player in the roster and by far distance. Good man, but awful player, who got exposed time and time again in defense. And in offense, zero. Good riddance

    1. Emerson and Tomori are worse. Theo has been worse this season. Calabria has been a good servant and he was important in the scudetto winning season, but it’s time to move on.

  5. As usual…milan so dumb…always sell cheap but when they buy, they always spend more…2m for calabria? Should at least sell him for more than $5m…
