Sky: Milan hoping loan formula will convince Barcelona to let defender go

By Isak Möller -

After completing the signings of Soualiho Meite and Mario Mandzukic, while Fikayo Tomori is just one step away, there could yet be more for Milan. As we confirmed, they are in talks with Barcelona over Junior Firpo.

Speaking on Sky Italia this evening (via MilanNews.it), Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed the Rossoneri’s interest and the negotiations with Barcelona. The Spanish side have slapped a €20m price tag on the left-back, but Milan have another idea.

Instead of an outright purchase, they are negotiating on the basis of a paid loan with an option to buy. Although the negotiation is difficult, contacts continue between the parties and they might be able to find a solution.

Should Milan secure Firpo, then it would be a very impressive mercato as the budget was only a mere €20m or so. With the loan formulas, they have been able to bring in more reinforcements than perhaps expected at the start.
