Sky: Milan look to Spain and Germany as Zirkzee operation is halted – the alternatives

AC Milan’s pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee has been stalled in recent days, and the Rossoneri are evaluating other options, given interest is still present in the Dutchman.

Whilst Milan have been the long-standing favourites to win the race for Zirkzee in the summer mercato, he has not yet signed on the dotted line. The reasoning for this is his agent, Kia Joorabchian, is demanding a €15 million fee for commissioning the deal, which the Diavolo are refusing to pay.

Alternatives are being looked into, and it was reported that Giorgio Furlani is actively trying to lower the figure requested by his agent – a fee of less than €10m is the ideal amount. Additionally, we reported exclusively that the club are seeking a deal for Joshua’s brother, Jordan, which is an attempt to sweeten the deal.

However, whilst the issues remain in place and no solution is found, Milan will continue to evaluate other options.

As reported by Sky Italia this morning, the Rossoneri are looking at two more names. Firstly, Augsburg striker Ermedin Demirovic, who would cost around €18m and bonuses, but this could be lowered. Another option being considered is Memphis Depay, who will be a free agent in the summer, once his contract expires.

  1. In principle I think Milan is going to walk away from the JZ deal if the agent doesn’t budge. This will create a hornets nest that I don’t think they want to carry around with them going forward.

  2. Ermedin Demirovic: Someone here already aid Milan will end up with a no name striker from no where as the alternative after missing all their primary targets.

    This management are clowns

  3. Demirovic looks pretty good though. 15 goals in a shitty team like Augsburg is really good. He scored 30 % of their goals.

Depay is not good. He will flaunder so many shots. His finishing is not good enough. There is a feason he moves around so much between clubs…

  4. Pretty sure Demirovic has been rumored to AC Milan previously in recent years and Depay certainly has many times before. The Bosnian has some fairly good stats for an 11th placed team in the Bundesliga but I cant say i know much about him.

      1. Hopefully not 😀 to be fair according to the article AX Milan can buy him for 18 mil + bonuses which seems unlikely as his valuation according to transfermarkt its 28 mil and he is by a great distance Augsburgs most expensive player so I doubt that this is really a thing to believe at least under the circuimstance mentioned here.

  5. Both Furlani and Ibra already said on the press that this season will be more of a targeted market than the last season (wholesale style). But yeah, seems far from it.

    1. Yeah these guys say a lot. Last summer they said four players were protected and one of them was sold like a week later. They said that a great striker would arrive and it was jobless Jovic ten minutes before the closure of the mercato. They also repeat that they’re ambitious and we have almighty Paulo Fonseca as the new coach.

Now Zlatan says that Mike and Théo will stay or that they’ll recruit “strong players” and we have to believe that I guess.

  6. instead of all these drama and back and fort, why not use okafor as a striker.they got almost same characteristics.both dont score much, got good movement and can link up with other players well.then we bring in a deputy for leao.okafor is no left winger to be honest.he is much better in the middle.the money zirkzee money can then be used for 2 strong midfielders,a creative one to sit loftus cheek on the bench and a strong defensive midfielder.

    1. Okafor will have playing time anyway as Fonseca is here to raise the value of the young players. He has been good as a backup but to be a starter means more pressure and playing against defenders who are not already exhausted after an hour of game. He’s didn’t even play for Switzerland at the Euro after two games already.

Even if we don’t go for a striker like Giroud, who is often referred as a very difficult player to defend against by top defenders because of his physical presence, we need someone reliable and already entrenched as a strong player.

      1. what we need is an alternative to loftus cheek.our team is strong already but lacking a 10 with vision.if we manage to get that, then a good dm to partner reijnders,no matter d striker we use we will be so hard to beat.check out arsenal,we play same 4-2-3-1 but d difference is there 10.that is odegaard.loftus is a ball carrier but lacks vison once he is in the final third.he waste d runs of our strogest departments that is our wingers.if we dont shift him back and get a better 10,we will still struggle to score goals even if we get zirkzee

        1. I couldn’t agree more. Maybe Reijnders will be the new 10 as he can’t defend and we should sign Rabiot, Fofana or Amrabat or even two of them. But we also sign a prolific striker after the debacle of last summer in that area.

  7. Just get schick then. If he isn’t injured he will score goals. The only question is what to do when he is injured. And he will get injured

  8. If we end up with someone like these two a sour main striker then we will be a joke in serie a. Nobody will take us seriously. I don’t get it, management has known for years, YEARS ever since giroud was signed that we will need a striker and that is the most important role and we can’t figure out who we want and then we’re going after players that aren’t better than Jovic. If we don’t get a striker of high quality to lead us next season I’m done with this management. Juve inter napoli and roma can somehow attract players and land their man and yet we go from plan a to plan z. Vergogna.

  9. Milan should go for weghost,he is very cheap nd is a traditional striker with good passes from players,he will perform very well.

  10. That’s their strategic chasing better profiles at first to give some hope the fans and later bring some unknown clowns Redbird/Elliott out

  11. Boniface is a GOAL… All scoring problem solved but after great season he wont come so cheap. this dumb ass management had the opportunity to sign when he was in Belgium beore going to Leverkusen for cheap now his price and salary will be doubled
