Sky: Milan’s probable XI for Sampdoria encounter – Origi to make first start

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will face Sampdoria in the 6th round of Serie A tomorrow evening and a few changes are expected to the starting XI. To name one, Divock Origi is set to make his first start for the club.

Stefano Pioli fielded almost the same line-up for the mid-week clash against RB Salzburg as we saw in the derby against Inter. The only exception was Alexis Saelemaekers, who scored the goal against the Austrian side.

According to Sky (see photo below), the manager will make four changes to the starting XI. Simon Kjaer will replace Fikayo Tomori at the back, which understandable given that the Englishman has played a lot.

In the midfield, Tommaso Pobega will start alongside Sandro Tonali rather than Ismael Bennacer. Saelemaekers scored the winner last time out, as mentioned, but Junior Messias will get the chance to shine tomorrow.

Finally, Origi is expected to make his first start for the club and he has a point to prove after receiving some criticism following the Salzburg draw.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Kalulu, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Pobega; Messias, De Ketelaere, Leao; Origi.

  1. Maldini should suit up and play at LB since he has failed to bring a proper back up LB and let Theo take a break .
Outside of the 1st year, when Rodriguez was still here, Theo hasn’t had an actual LB to back him up

  2. Où sont les nouvelles recrues ?
    Vrancks, Thiaw, Adli !
faire jouer Pobega au départ est irréfléchi, il est nulle ! Pioli insiste de recommettre les mêmes erreurs !
Le Milan tarde vraiment a bâtir son projet، à nos jours inconnu !

  3. So sick of seeing Messias there… such an eyesore for our starting lineup. We desperately need a ST an RW if we are keeping the 4231.

  4. Good line up, as far as we did not start with Diaz…I hope Adli comes on for CDK.

Dest is a back RB and thats should be position unless we are playing 3 at the back.

  5. Kossy do you actually think Messias is better than Dest? And do you think we agreed to pay that loan price and pay his expensive annual salary to just have him be backup RB?

    1. This is football club, not a Firm, not a private Company. Player selection is based on tactics, fitness level, integrity and form. Not about how much he earned.

  6. I wonder why our Left Flanks have no rotation ? I think Sergino Dest can go LB, he showed us when vs RB Salzburg that he can dribble well & can help attacking phase very well too, just like Theo’s trait but in different taste (more technical than speed like Theo).

And for LW, we need Rebic to Rotate with Leao, pretty good depth actually.
