Sky UK: Chelsea striker ‘close to agreeing’ Milan transfer amid expiring contract

By Isak Möller -

It seems Fikayo Tomori won’t be the only signing Milan will make from Chelsea this summer, as Olivier Giroud reportedly will join the Rossoneri as well. He will replace Mario Mandzukic as the deputy for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It’s been widely reported in Italian media in the last few days but this morning, Sky UK also confirmed that the French striker is ‘close to agreeing’ a move to Milan. In other words, he won’t renew his contract with Chelsea.

Taking his experience into account, it could be a very good signing for the Rossoneri although it’s similar to the Mandzukic operation. The latter wasn’t a huge success and Paolo Maldini will be hoping that Giroud can do better.

This morning, MilanNews reported that Milan are also looking to bring in a young striker this summer, which make sense for the future. Giroud won’t be the only signing for the role up front, in other words.
