Sky journalist: What emerged from Theo’s agent meeting and the offer Milan are planning

AC Milan had a constructive discussion with the agent of Theo Hernandez today regarding the renewal of his contract, according to Manuele Baiocchini of Sky.

A report earlier today from Spain spoke of his agent arriving in Italy for a meeting with the management about his client, the day after he was benched for the game against Genoa at San Siro.

Manuel Garcia Quilon spoke while exiting Casa Milan following the summit with the directors, and afterwards he confirmed that his client intends to stay at Milan and renew his contract.

It is good news of course, but words must become deeds because his deal runs out in 2026 meaning that he would be 12 months from expiry come the end of the season.

Speaking live on Sky (via MilanNews), Baiocchini revealed the insight that he has gathered regarding the meeting that took place and where things currently stand.

“The management continue to work to build the Milan of the future. There was a meeting today with Quilon, Theo Hernandez’s Spanish agent. In the interview we conducted, he denies that there was talk of a renewal, but from what we know, a more than in-depth discussion on the renewal was held.

“There was a meeting for about an hour with the CEO of Milan Giorgio Furlani, they talked about the contract renewal, the common will is to move forward and therefore to renew the contract that now expires in 2026.

“On one side there is Milan who has no intention of losing him for free, on the other there is Theo Hernandez with the desire to renew this agreement and then, together, maybe see what happens next summer. If an offer from a top club were to arrive, possibly take it into consideration or continue with the Rossoneri shirt.

“The proposal that Milan are working on is around 5 million net plus bonuses, an upward adjustment of Theo’s contract, who currently earns 4 million plus bonuses. Optimism filters through from the club and the company that the renewal can be done, even in a not very long time, but new meetings will be needed.”

    1. He is mentally strong enough to play for Milan, this is his 6th year as a Milan player.
He isn’t mentally strong enough to be one of the leaders of Milan.
None of the others are mentally strong enough to be leaders or have any leadership qualities.

  1. If Milan were to sell Hernandez for about 50-80m we should replace him with Robinson or Martinez Gutierrez (ideally Robinson because he has history with Musah and Pulisic in the USA National team) for about 25-35m and spend the rest on upgrading the rest of the team.
But I do hope we ended up keeping him, and if we do I think we should get a backup that can rotate with him and give him rest breaks because right now he’s being over used which is what is leading him to a deline ideally I think it should be de cuyper who’s been linked to Milan before and can also play rb (just get rid of cardinale, ibra, and foncesca)

  2. Hilarious so many are now questioning Theo and his commitment to the club and are now clamoring to sell him at a discount – LMAO 🤡🤡🤡🤡

The same was said about Leao, and Mike and even a player like Thiaw (who now starts and is thriving).

Perhaps we should consider it is NOT the player – BUT our trash COACH??? You know the coach who consistently throws his players under the bus and alienates his players. And this is the coach we are entrusting to guide our players????

Change this trash coach and watch Theo shine again.

Enough with this garbage. Theo wants to stay. Sign him and lock him up. Dump the coach ASAP.

    Simple

    1. Couldn’t have said it better
Theo has been world class for four or so years and now suddenly is trash? Hmmm I wondered what changed 🤔

        1. Lol yes. His attitude changed all of a sudden. No reason at all, it just changed for the sake of changing. No external factors whatsoever

    2. Exactly, all these are too much reactionary, everyone goes through a bad form and when we are using Theo too much, so much so that for the past 5 years we have failed to get someone decent enough to give him some rest, top level clubs have their first choice players and backups for them, we have only Theo in that Left back position with natural Right backs trying to fill in those roles like Jimenez and Terraciano. With this new format and so many games in a single season we need that depth, but all these fans and management see is just a slight decline in his form and starts to criticize him, they forget what he has done for us, they did the same with Leao and now that he has come back to his form, they are not even praising him.

  3. So the agent says there was no talk of renewal, but the journalist concludes that there was talk of renewal?

Anyway, a renewal might be done only to prevent negotiations with other teams from being marred by Theo being in his last year. If his agent is aiming for a transfer to another club, it would benefit both parties to get, say, a 2-year renewal, so that Milan would be in a better position to obtain a higher price, and the agent would be able to ask for a larger fee, in proportion to the higher transfer price.

The way Theo has been playing, and the way Jimenez played against Genoa, selling Theo may not be a tragedy, after all.

Of course, if Theo returns to his previous form, then I’d love to see him staying with Milan. But if he will remain unmotivated and will continue to make tremendous defensive mistakes that cost us conceded goals and dropped points, and continues to contribute little to the offense, then I’ll prefer to see Theo going elsewhere.

It’s not to be excluded that Theo’s current bad form has to do with the mediocre Fonseca and of how Fonseca is trying to utilize Theo.

Maybe if Theo stays and we get rid of Fonseca, Theo will shine again.

    1. “Maybe if Theo stays and we get rid of Fonseca, Theo will shine again.”

Could be. But is Theo “big enough star” for the club to choose him over the coach? How many clubs will kick out the coach if one player has attitude and performance issues? ManUtd kicked out Beckham who didn’t even have attitude problems but Sir Alex thought the media hassle was too much. Wasn’t Becks “big enough”? Is Theo as big? We all the answer to that.

  4. Look like 5 million + bonus is not enough. If it is enough, his agent will tell “we have great conversation about renewal”.

Furlani: “how about 5 million + bonus”.

Theo agent: “we want 8 million. Theo is money lover, his nickname is theodollar”.
