Earlier this summer, AC Milan decided to send their youngster Lorenzo Colombo on loan to SPAL. Last season, he was loaned out to Cremonese and the spell wasn’t that successful, but now he’s got off to a good start.
Colombo has played a total of three games for SPAL, two in Serie B and one in Coppa Italia, and he has registered one goal and one assist. In addition, he scored while on international duty with Italy’s U21 side.

In other words, the 19-year-old has got off to a great start and if he can continue like this, he could be part of Milan’s first team next season. He was close this summer but eventually, the management agreed that a loan move was for the best.
Speaking about Colombo in a recent interview (via MilanNews), SPAL’s sporting director Giorgio Zamuner shared some insight on the move. He revealed that the striker was keen on playing a ‘leading role’ in Serie B.
“Colombo, beyond the important technical characteristics that we all know, is a complete striker and a prospect. He was one of the first players contacted, who immediately gave me total availability to come to Ferrara. He had the desire to play a leading role in the league and immediately said yes to the technical project we proposed to him,” he stated.
