Spanish report provides AC Milan with boost in pursuit of unhappy Barcelona midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been handed a boost in their pursuit of midfielder Ivan Rakitic as Barcelona have made their stance clear, a report claims.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported earlier in the month Milan are planning another attempt at signing the Croatian international, who is destined to leave Barcelona at the end of the season.

Another Spain-based paper (Sport) also confirmed that the Rossoneri are keen on signing the former Sevilla star, along with rivals Inter, while the player himself called Barcelona out over their treatment of him.

According to what is being reported by Mundo Deportivo (via MilanLive), the Catalan giants are willing to sell its player. The fact his contract expires on 30 June 2021 has pushed the two parties towards a farewell.

The Spaniards would like to monetise his sale but to date Rakitic seems willing to stay in Barcelona. The idea of a return to Sevilla seems to be the only one the player likes, but they have not yet made an official offer.

The outlet adds that the Blaugrana have no intention of loaning Rakitic out either, so a sale to Serie A could be the most favourable outcome, which would be good news for Milan.
