Sport: Barcelona accelerate talks with expiring Milan midfielder – agreement in sight

By Isak Möller -

Franck Kessie’s contract will expire at the end of the season and it seems he has decided to leave AC Milan then. In fact, he’s now in advanced talks with Barcelona over a contract, a report claims.

Since the summer of last year, Milan have been in talks with the entourage of Kessie over a contract renewal. The talks have stalled lately, though, as both parties have refused to budge on their respective stance.

A summer exit is looking increasingly likely and some would say that it has been more or less decided. According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona have intensified talks with Kessie and his entourage over a free transfer.

The parties are getting closer to each other money-wise, the report states, and that’s why an agreement isn’t far away. For now, though, Kessie will have to stay focused on Milan as he will start in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter on Tuesday.

  1. Kessie good form last year is mainly because of the fantastic Bennacer.. I am so interested to see him with his weird attitude that he use to practice in his presence with Milan in his first 3 year. If he needs a ticket to Barcelona or London or Paris I will be happy to buy for him as the HISTORY IS VERY CLEAR NO ONE HAS LEFT MILAN FOR ANOTHER CLUB AND GET SUCCESS. I hope Milan will put him in stand from now on. Especially his performance and body language in the game against Udinese showed him not interested any more

  2. Not because he looks like he’s leaving means he’s terrible. He is still top 10 mid in Europe right now, perhaps even more. He’s just a very good, world class player which we can’t afford to keep. Similarly not because something is in caps makes it true..I can think of a certain Aubameyang who left Milan and did really well. Coloccini, Laursen, Viera also comes to mind

    1. I guess you missed this entire season. He doesn’t have 2 back to back games where he wasn’t mediocre or shit. Right now, here is not even top 50.

  3. To say how much his agent is reportedly asking for, this would be a crazy move for Barcelona, even if he is a top player. Shame he’s going, but can’t deny what an excellent player he’s been for Milan for the last few seasons.

  4. You guys all just bitter that hes not signing for us next season. Judge him for his performances not ur emotions. Yes he’s slowed down a bit now because he’s played in AFCON and is tired/needs a rest but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a great midfielder. Bennacer isnt exactly doing so great to keep him on the bench now is he? Kessie will be very hard to replace come next season and Renato isn’t close to him. Renato is not a great RW, neither an ACM, but a decent box to box but I’ll pick Kessie any day over him. Just like I would pick Donnaruma over Maignan any day.

I’m not saying his agent isnt asking for too much in commissions, I’m just saying he’s worth what he is asking for. Pay the man. But we can’t afford so….they need figure out these things before we have world class players leave for free
