Sport: Milan and Liverpool among teams interested in exit-bound Real Madrid man

By Isak Möller -

After what was a very quiet January mercato, AC Milan are making their plans for the summer and it’s expected that some money will be spent then. One of the players on their radar is Marco Asensio, a report claims.

The attacking midfielder has a contract with Real Madrid until 2023 and it appears that his future is yet to be decided. According to Sport, the Spanish side haven’t made a decision on whether to renew him or sell him.

Among the players that could leave the club, Real Madrid believe that Asensio is the one that could bring in the most money. He has a release clause of €700m but he could be allowed to leave the club for €50m, per the report.

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Milan are all keeping tabs on Asensio’s situation. PSG could also enter the race if Neymar were to leave, as the report concludes.

€50m, for Milan, is probably too much to spend given the other significant investments they are planning to make in the summer.

  1. The only way I can see Asensio joining Milan would be if they agreed with Real Madrid to split the payment in a way that Milan could afford, which I highly doubt but he would be perfect for Milan. With Bremer replacing Romagnoli, Renato replacing Kessie, Belotti as a CF, Berardi as RW and Asensio playing the No. 10 the team would be very, very strong.
