It seems that Theo Hernandez may end up staying at AC Milan this summer, despite heavy rumours of an exit.
The handling of Theo’s situation, from top to bottom, has been woeful. From the side of the player, the club and interested clubs it has been messy completely, and now, there is a real issue about what happens next.

Exit bound
It seems difficult to actually imagine a situation where Theo remains, simply due to the look of this summer. As soon as contract negotiations collapsed, it was on the mercato for the Frenchman and interest was present.
Al Hilal tried first, but his desire to remain in Europe prevailed, despite an offer that would suit both parties financially. Then, there was Atletico Madrid; however, reports from last night suggest that a move will not happen.
No way home
According to Sky this morning, Atletico are getting ‘further away’ from an agreement, and whilst they increased their offer to €20 million, it still is not enough. In fact, the Spaniards are close to giving up on the talks.
This has also been confirmed by Spanish outlets, with Marca (via Milan News) stating that the negotiations have ‘fallen through’ in a maddening turn of events. The Colchoneros, despite looking likely to complete a move recently, have suddenly stopped talks.
It seems that this is the end of the saga, at least for now.
Milan handled this like nobody at the club doesn’t understand anything. How can you publicly push the player out and make your position weaker. Everyone on the planet knows that Milan wants him out and there won’t be a new contract. So Atletico know that they can take him for 0 next summer or probably 5M in January. Good job Furlani.
Because Theo can’t wait on the bench or in the stands until next summer or in January to move to Atlético. His value (salary) will go down even more, and he would lose his spot with the national team.
Atlético isn’t the only team in Europe that Milan could sell Theo to for them to just accept the 1st low ball offer from Atlético.

Maybe you should check the calendar. It says June 13th. The transfer window closes on September 1st. Atletico and ManCity are not the only 2 clubs in Europe. Atletico is just the club where Theo wants to go. Milan doesn’t have to send him to the club where he wants to go unless they get an offer they deemed satisfactory from that club.

Maybe you live in a cave and you haven’t heard that there was an offer from Al Hilal of 35 mil just last week. But yeah let’s hurry up and accept this 20 milion less offer from Atletico few days later with 3 months left in the market. I hope you are not anyone’s financial advisor.
There is on offer from a Saudi club that Theo doesn’t want to join. No point to discuss with you when you don’t get the basics. Saudi clubs offer higher fees than others as that is their pull. Theo rejected their offer.

Milan has proven that no one in management has any sense of timing when it comes to transfers. Theo will be free on a pre-agreement in the winter.
Why is everyone so cheap towards Milan? Maignan för 15 and Theo for 20. But the mercato hasn’t even started so much can still happen. To have the opportunity to sign a player of their quality for these prices should be something that many clubs should be all over. But it’s like when they see only one year on the contract and it’s like the player suddenly becomes bad. It’s still the same players. Just with a short contract. I get that some clubs feel they can wait and get players for free. But not all clubs can have that feeling. Because only one club can get him. So why not try to outbid and get him for a discount anyway.
Well maybe it is the people that do the negotiations and present a public image of the club. So other clubs know they can low ball? Also when you haggle for every 500k when buying a player the selling club remembers this and you get the same treatment. And for Theo, maybe he already agreed with Atletico, we don’t know. So no other club has a chance. Maignan also said to Milan he is going to Chelsea one way or the other, at least what the reports say.
Because we made it publicly clear that we are pushing Théo and Maignan out with 1 year remaining in their contracts. Clubs know that it’s us who want them out and they’re not really desperate to get them, so there is no point in proposing a lot of money.

I am loving this low ball Tug of War for Theo. This lad although a very good player but think himself a superstar that every top club is patiently waiting for!! Tare’s magic trick would be to offer Theo a bumper deal after the Frenchman realizes that there’s no demand for him and might miss out on the WC altogether.

You publicly said you don’t want him – well guess what you fkn geniuses – that drives his value down even further. Also Using SA team as a baseline for an offer is just stupid.
If you have zero intention of resigning OR allow him to play out the season – then take the 20M and be done with it. Theo deserves so much better
