As time has progressed, it has seemed more and more likely that Theo Hernandez would leave AC Milan this summer. Now, it seems inevitable.
The situation with Theo probably stretches back a year now, and things have not been right ever since that interview. During the European Championship, the Frenchman stated his future was not decided, despite it being cleared just days prior by the club.
Since then, it has been a rollercoaster, a dropping one at that, with the defender becoming more and more likely to leave Milan. Though, there has been a slight rise in the past month, with suggestions that he could renew.
This is no longer the case, though.
Earlier this week it was reported that he was available, with the club looking to raise funds, and now Pietro Mazzara (via @MCL_LAT on X) has stated that the Frenchman wants to leave the club ‘now’.
There are several reasons why this could be. However, the two stated are rather clear, and probably even understandable. The first is due to the Rossoneri’s actions – they have not spoken to his agent in ‘months’. Then, he remains frustrated over the decision to accept Como’s bid in January.
Considering he offered himself to Madrid on Thursday, it certainly is not a surprise that his chapter is going to close this summer. However, it feels self inflicted from the Diavolo, even if the Frenchman has not been up to the required standard.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Perfect example why you should always get rid of a player a year too early than a year too late.

Bye bye
I wouldn’t blame him. Yes, he had an awful season but I’m going to play devil’s advocate for him and Leao.
They have clearly not been happy with the changes at the club, reacting publicly to the departures of Maldini, Massara, and Tonali. The cooling break incident is another example of how they felt about the change of coach. Unprofessional? Yes, but it also stems from frustration of everything else falling apart around them. When they used to attack, they knew one of Tonali, Bennacer, Kessie, or Krunic would cover for them. That doesn’t exist anymore. You could argue they should adapt their style of play but no new system has been put in place because the random signings made do not fit together. In addition to that, they bore the brunt of the criticism while the new players were given passes or praised for doing very little. In Theo’s case, you can add the physical fatigue of playing non-stop for club and country the past five seasons.
They may not have Pulisic’s level of professionalism, but ignoring everything else to blame the players that have delivered for us is unreasonable. We saw it with Bennacer, Calabria, and Krunic before. They were sent away but the problems persisted.
👍🏼

Finally, a good news
Good riddance, Theo. You’ve been acting for a long time as a spoiled primadonna, with a very poor level of performance, so yes, GOODBYE.
And asking for a pay rise mind you… For most of this season we’d have been better off with Kevin Constant back there…
He will kiss another jersey for a few more $.
Go Theo, good luck, no serious team will accept you in today’s lazy version.
You will have to WORK hard.
Take the rapper with you 😁 😜
Theo is a milanista… som may here are just unfair when there is trouble just w a nt to nuke things
We would be stupid selling him…
Alex…..You “re STUPID !!!!!!!!!!
These articles are funny sometimes, one day you get that Théo wants to stay in Milan at least for another year and now he wants to leave as soon as possible.
Théo has been very poor this season from a performance standpoint (both defensively and offensively) but also and especially from a conduct point of view. We all remember the lack of effort against Parma, the cooling incident during the next game, the penalty stealing and red card against Fiorentina, the red card against Feyenoord and him arguing with another player during an attack. He was always a bit of a hot-headed guy during 2021 and 2022, but it’s clear that when it was time for him to step up and become more mature and lead this team to more success, he didn’t possess the mental attributes to do so.
WITH THAT SAID, the management has also a big share in what was overall a very peformance by the team and also by the player.
From how Zlatan claimed publicly that Théo was happy and will renew to then the management completely ghosting the player and his agent, it’s clear that they never communicated with him and shared their opinion or vision with him.
Sometimes, as a manager or administrator you have to remember that you’re dealing with not just numbers, money and data but also actual human beings and this later aspect is clearly one the weakest point in RedBird. Furlani is a banker that probably doesn’t even know the basic rules of football, Ibrahimović with his immense ego can’t emphatize with someone else and Cardinale, the owner ain’t gonna “lower himself” and speak to players as if they’re human beings, they’re just machines after all. Which pretty much just leaves Moncada, a scout, to deal with all of this.
Like if it was already decided that Théo is no longer part of our project (whatever this project is), at least have the humility to say that to him. Ghosting someone and his agent and expecting him to get the memo ain’t the way to deal with this.
And if the other article about Pulišić is true, it’s clear that pretty much every player is frustrated with this administration, in a way that simply goes beyond picking Fonseca and then Conceição as coaches. Because when almost every player either stalled or regressed under 3 different coaches, maybe it’s about time to look above.
So in the end Théo might leave this summer, maybe for the better, maybe for the worst. But it’s alright I guess, I’m sure Moncada has already a plethora of names from the Ligue 1 or the Admiral Bundesliga to replace him. Oops I forgot ! The new trend is on Italians player and an “Italian revolution”.
He should leave for his own sake, and while he had a poor season, nothing but gratitude for Theo on my side. I thank him for leading the charge in making us competitive, even when he had to play as a CB when everyone else was injured.
For now I will glad to say that there is no one in Milan really untouchable, if Theo wanna stay then it’s ok, but if he think he need a new air to breathe then let it be…
Ungrateful fans. This guy gave his all before the fools took over and threaten that no one is safe in the marcato
I agree, and when he was playing the club deroded around him. A player like Theo needs a wining team, and that is NOT ACM for now.
This is why it’s important to get Italians, particularly from your own youth academy. Yes it doesn’t mean they won’t leave, but you increase the chances of player loyalty.
