Three AC Milan players have been included in Opta’s team of 2022 in Serie A, with a remarkable statistic to back up each selection.
After a year in which Milan ended as the champions of Italy and secured their passage to the Champions League last 16 for the first time since 2013-14, it is perhaps no surprise to see three players included in the line-up.

Pierre Kalulu is in at centre-back, and Opta report that has been dribbled past the fewest times by an opponent in Serie A in 2022 among defenders (3 – minimum 30 appearances).
Theo Hernández gets in at left-back, and he has carried the ball 6,932 metres in Serie A in 2022, more than any other player in the competition.
Finally, last season’s Serie A MVP Rafael Leão gets in at left wing. The Portuguese international has been involved in more goals than any other player in Serie A in 2022 (24 – 13 goals, 11 assists).
