AC Milan have some big decisions to make regarding the future of their project in the coming weeks, and yet CEO Giorgio Furlani seems to be taking his time.
According to Calciomercato.com, there is a two-week break in the season for the international break, and yet Milan shouldn’t make any significant progress in planning for next season. They are trying to speed up the choices on two key figures: the sporting director, and the coach to take Sergio Conceiçao’s place.
The respective processes are still underway and – according to what leaks from Casa Milan – in the next few days the CEO Furlani will be busy with a series of meetings with commercial partners in Dubai, where the Rossoneri inaugurated a headquarters in 2023.
At least at the beginning of this week, there are no meetings scheduled with potential candidates to restructure the management. That is despite Furlani’s trip to New York to reiterate to the owner Gerry Cardinale that he has the final say on all decisions, financial and sporting.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cardinale meanwhile started a series of discussions in the past few weeks, first with Fabio Paratici and then with Igli Tare. Their aim: to identify the sporting director who should take office as soon as possible, to choose the best coach and plan transfer moves for the summer.
Furlani, who has re-established the balance of power, has literally started the selection process of the director from scratch. Paratici is the name that intrigues the most alongside Tony D’Amico, with whom the executive has already had an initial approach, though nothing is advanced.
Time is of the essence and – given that Furlani was so keen to wrestle control back – he is the one with the greatest responsibility to make the decisions quickly that put Milan back on the right track after a tremendously complicated season.
The names for the coach that seem most realistic remain Massimiliano Allegri, Vincenzo Italiano, Gian Piero Gasperini and Antonio Conte. The planning for 2025-26 should begin in March and April, but for now everything is proceeding with ‘extreme calm’.

Ma ce cosa anno da ridere questi qua!!!!!
Both of you are Bullsh*t
If those are the coaches they look at, (I doubt it), give me Allegri.
Comte is Allegri if Allegri could only coach in one competition.
Gasperini and Italiano are not coaches for a big club.
Italiano was a major disappointment at Fiorentina. He was Motta before Motta.
First thing’s first. What’s going in Dubai? Talks to sell? To whom?
What’s the project? Who’s the SD? Is there autonomy?
Only then we get to coach, players, etc.
A lot is going in Dubai, but it has nothing to do with Milan sale.
No matter who the new sporting director is going to be, those are the coaching names that are in circulation, plus one or 2 other names. That’s why I said if those are the coaches they are looking at.
I mean, is Fiorentina really a “big club”? How is Palladino doing? Would a “top” coach take their squad and make them challenge for titles? Top 4 even? Using performance at Fiorentina may be a red herring. How is he doing at Bologna? Top 4 right now. And they sold off some huge pieces like Calafiori and Zirkzee in the summer. Technically he’s doing even better than feted Motta did with a lesser team. What were Pioli’s credentials before Milan? How about Allegri’s, Cappello’s or Sacchi’s? TBH, these days, outside maybe a handful of coaches, choosing a coach seem to be a real cr@p shoot.
Fiorentina is a bigger club , with better players and bigger ambitions than Bologna, and especially much bigger club than Spezia where Italiano came from.
And technically Italiano isn’t doing better than Motta.
Motta’s Bologna was 4th after 29 games with 54 points, while Italiano Bologna is also 4th with 53 points.
Meanwhile, Italiano’s Fiorentina was 7th thru 29 games with 46 points, while Paladino’s Fiorentina is 8th with 48 points
And this seasons Bologna isn’t weaker than last seasons. Both Zirkzee and Calafiori were adequately replaced. Italiano is reaping the benefits of the fundamentals Motta laid down at Bologna.
Pioli coached Inter and Lazio before he joined Milan, so he was aware of the pressure and expectations that comes with being at a big club.
Sacchi and Capello had the best players in the world at their disposal when they were Milan coaches.
Is Fiorentina a bigger club than Bologna? 🤔. Maybe right now they have more money and ambitions, but they can’t possibly be a bigger club because Bologna has 7 and Fiorentina 2 Scudettos.
And to be clear, I was referring to Italiano.
Gasperini is the best for sure i agree with you Italiano is rubbish
Of course Furlani is taking his time, that’s the hallmark of this management. Procrastinate until the very last minute.
Furlani has been in charge since the summer of 2023. when he fired Maldini and Massaro. That’s the only thing right.
You wouldn’t have to fix team menagement if you didn’t ruin it at first (by backstabing maldini).
You piece of $hit judah!
Furlani admitted that he is in charge and that he asks everything, so don’t look for other people to be responsible for this mess. Now he will save us, because he will appoint a sports director and a coach.
