TMW: Monza willing to pay €5m for Maldini as Milan eye favourable clause

By Isak Möller -

Daniel Maldini has been a big success for Monza since his move during the January window and he could remain at the club for next season. According to a report, a bid should be submitted and AC Milan are eyeing a beneficial clause.

Maldini ended his loan at Empoli early in January and Milan agreed to send him out to Monza instead, with Lorenzo Colombo there as well. In hindsight, it was the best possible decision as the attacking midfielder has scored three goals and assisted an additional one in five games.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Monza are already convinced of the 21-year-old’s qualities and CEO Adriano Galliani is preparing an official offer for the summer. He’s willing to pay €4-5m for the player and Milan could accept for two reasons.

First and foremost, Maldini’s contract with the Rossoneri will expire next year, putting the club in a poor negotiation position. Secondly, Giorgio Furlani knows that Monza really want the player and could thus include a future resale clause, which would most likely result in more money.

On the other hand, Milan will have to monitor the remainder of the season closely as Maldini scored a fantastic free-kick last time out. A renewal cannot be excluded, after all.

  1. Exactly guys. I don’t know why the article only mentioned resale clause and not a buyback clause as if the former is more beneficial to Milan. With buyback you can get him back and still sell for more. Not saying anyone should be sold tho, just that that will give you more options or all the options if I’m right
