TMW: Napoli join race for Milan winger as Conte was left ‘very convinced’

Alexis Saelemaekers appears to be a hot name on the mercato following what was an impressive season with Thiago Motta and Bologna. According to a report, after the Premier League interest, Napoli have now also joined the race.

Milan agreed to send Saelemaekers out on loan with an option to buy last summer and the winger impressed with Bologna. However, as Motta left the club for Juventus, the Rossoblu opted not to redeem the player and this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Milan.

Indeed, following the Premier League interest which prompted the Rossoneri to increase the price to €20m, Napoli have now also joined the race. According to TMW, Antonio Conte was left ‘very convinced’ by the 25-year-old’s 2023-24 campaign and above all by his tactical versatility.

It remains to be seen if an official bid will be submitted but Conte, as we know, usually gets what he wants in the end. Given that Saelemaekers didn’t cost a whole lot when he arrived from Anderlecht in 2020, Milan are set to register a significant capital gain.

Yesterday, the winger really impressed as Milan faced Rapid Wien in their first friendly of the pre-season. This has certainly helped boost his value even if the opposition wasn’t the best.

  1. NO! bcs he’d actually shine under conte and i really dont want to be rooting against him. we should at least give him 1 more season

    1. Chill Maan, football is 11v11. You can root foemr him to play well against us. But also hope Buongiorno make 3 own goal. 😅

    2. He is not game changer, this is the reason why we should sell him… Alexis was there 4 seasons , 4 seasons he was mid table player, every fans was mad on him, and after one friendly match against Rapid we want him for another year… no , it’s same like with Niang ..

  2. Honestly I’ve always thought wing-back perfect for him. Could see him do very well under Conte’s tactics.

If they’re prepared to spend the money, we shouldn’t hold him back, he won’t get many minutes here with Pulisic, Leao, Okafor, Chukwueze we’re well stocked on the wings.

Sure we’re selling to a rival but in this case, good luck to Alexis hope he has a good career.

    1. I agree. I thought he would be a beast as WB.

It’s just sad that he would have no space with us, but best of luck to him (except when it’s facing us, we have enough ex players tend to score on us already lol)

  3. Alex is great. He never gives up, his attitude is exemplary. We were able to win a championship with him… I really like his game. And if Conte thinks so too, then I agree too 🙂

  4. The guys got a big heart and loved milan
I remember him showing the 7 champs league
Badge to Liverpool supporters at anfield and
Then showing the champions badge to Napoli supporters , I was sad we sent him away tbh

  5. He is best as wing back in 352 . In 433 or 4231 he is just defensive winger and not his best position . Sell him 12-15m euro to add budget for fofana
